Carmageddon: Max Damage is a combat racing game developed by Stainless Games Ltd. Drive a wide and varied range of cool, crazy, custom killing machines, each with its own highly distinctive style crush, bend, twist, and completely mangle your opponents’ and your own car – smash parts off, or split it in two; the original game was all about wrecking motors and pummelling pedestrians this iteration players can customize your car Armour and offensive upgrades with other customising options.

Fans of old-school vehicular combat will certainly enjoy Max Damage, and if the online matches remain reliably available for a long time, then there is no reason to think that you won’t get your money’s worth.

Carmageddon: Max Damage is a decent return for the franchise but the driving mechanics and AI need to be tweaked a bit to improve the overall feel of the game. Multiplayer is basically D.O.A. since it doesn’t seem like too many people are playing. The progression system for the career is very well thought out, and there is an ample amount of options available in the Free Play mode. The Career mode will need at least 15 or so hours to complete which is a decent amount for any game. Despite its flaws, there’s something oddly satisfying about power sliding into pedestrians and hearing the smush as they explode in a shower of blood and bits.

Carmageddon: Max Damage is downright offensive and all the better for it. And with a highly entertaining gameplay loop that gives you a great degree of freedom, it’s a blast from the past that occasionally puts a foot wrong but is easily forgiven.
