About this game

Black Book is a card-based adventure RPG steeped in Slavic folklore, about a girl named Vasilisa on her destined journey to become a witch, prompted by the death of her betrothed husband under mysterious circumstances, now she seeks the titular Black Book a demonic artifact said to be powerful enough to a granted wish to anyone who can break all of its seven seals. Join her on this journey as she explores the rural Russian countryside, solving the problems of the common folk by confronting and exorcising demons.

There’s an original, fantastic deck builder here, surrounded by an even more original, and just as an engaging text adventure. But Black Book doesn’t stop there and adds more and more layers until you’re left with a huge, unwieldy onion. If you can stomach its design quirks and scattershot understanding of what is fun or isn’t, Black Book has some of the best moments in modern card games.
