Blizzard turns 35 this year, and they aren’t waiting for BlizzCon to start the party. The studio just dropped a surprise announcement for the “Blizzard Showcase,” a two-week digital event series kicking off January 29.
Blizzard’s 35th Anniversary Roadmap
Forget the single-weekend format. Blizzard is spreading the love across two weeks with developer-led spotlights. This strategy gives each franchise room to breathe without fighting for attention.
The event focuses on four core pillars: World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Diablo. While physical events return later this year, this digital showcase aims to deliver immediate content updates and developer insights directly to the players.
For 35 years, Blizzard has been shaped by the worlds we build – and the players who bring them to life. You’ve fought through World of Warcraft, battled in Diablo, played your cards in Hearthstone, and held the line in Overwatch.

The Digital Showcase Schedule
Set your alarms. Here is exactly when you need to tune in for each franchise. All streams will be available on the official YouTube and Twitch channels for the respective games.
- World of Warcraft (State of Azeroth): Jan 29 @ 9:00 AM PST / 18:00 CET
- Overwatch Spotlight: Feb 4 @ 10:00 AM PST / 19:00 CET
- Hearthstone Spotlight: Feb 9 @ 9:30 AM PST / 18:30 CET
- Diablo 30th Anniversary: Feb 11 @ 2:00 PM PST / 23:00 CET
StarCraft and Missing Titles
Veterans will notice a massive hole in this lineup: StarCraft. Despite rumors of a third-person shooter in development under former Far Cry lead Dan Hay, the franchise remains missing from this immediate schedule.
This suggests the January/February showcases are strictly for “live” service updates rather than brand-new game reveals. Industry analysts expect the heavy hitters—like the rumored StarCraft shooter or sequels—to be saved for the grand return of BlizzCon 2026 later this September.

Verdict: Join the 35-Year Celebration
If you are currently active in Azeroth or climbing the ranked ladder in Overwatch 2, these streams are mandatory viewing. They will likely outline the content roadmap for the first half of 2026.
However, if you are hoping for a “World Premiere” of a new IP, you might want to manage your expectations until BlizzCon returns this fall. This event is about celebrating the community and the current state of the games, not necessarily dropping industry-shattering bombs.
