Key Facts

  • Blizzard has canceled plans for an Overwatch 2 co-op PvE campaign mode.
  • Instead, co-op missions will launch as missions as part of the live roadmap.
  • The first PvE missions will come with Overwatch 2 Season 6.

Blizzard has announced they are scrapping the upcoming Overwatch 2 co-op PvE mode, stating they “can’t deliver on that original vision” announced in 2019.

In 2019, Blizzard Entertainment teased a new co-op PvE campaign for Overwatch 2 that featured hero talents and long-term progression.

Unfortunately, in a recent developer stream, Blizzard said it required too much effort to put all the features they planned together and still ensure its quality, meaning they’ve decided to pull it entirely from plans and focus on the Overwatch 2 live roadmap.

As part of the Overwatch 2 live roadmap, planned PvE story missions will feature canon and non-cannon content. In addition, they will allow players to experiment with different heroes while exploring the Overwatch universe.

The first set of Overwatch 2 PvE missions are planned for August 15.
