The Bethesda.net Launcher is closing on 11 May and we’ve got all the details on how to migrate your Bethesda games to Steam.

IS THE BETHESDA LAUNCHER CLOSING?

 

The Bethesda.net Launcher is officially shutting down on 11 April but don’t worry because you can migrate your Bethesda library to Steam for free.

 

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY BETHESDA GAMES WHEN THE LAUNCHER CLOSES?

 

You will continue to have access to all your games, in-game items, and saves until 11 May, at which point you will no longer be able to play or access your games.

 

WHAT WILL TRANSFER OVER TO STEAM?

 

All your purchases will transfer with you to Steam for free and you may need to also transfer your save files over too.

Some games will transfer the save files from the Bethesda Launcher over to Steam automatically, and others will need you to do it manually.

The only game’s data that will not transfer to Steam is Wolfenstein: Youngblood.

Virtual currency, in-game skins, and DLC purchases will transfer to steam automatically.

 

DO I STILL NEED A BETHESDA ACCOUNT TO PLAY MY GAMES ON STEAM?

 

Yes. You will still need a Bethesda account to play many of the games and access live services such as Fallout 76 after the Bethesda.net Launcher shuts down.

 

WILL MY FRIENDS LIST ON BETHESDA TRANSFER TO STEAM?

 

Games that have a Bethesda.net friends list will merge with Steam, including Fallout 76, DOOM Eternal, Rage 2, Deathloop, and The Elder Scrolls: Legends.

 

CAN I STILL USE BETHESDA.NET GAME CODES?

 

Any Bethesda.net game codes you still have will be honored and redeemable on Steam.

 

CAN I MIGRATE MY BETHESDA ACCOUNT TO PLAYSTATION OR XBOX?

 

No. You can only migrate your Bethesda.net account to a Steam account.

 

WHAT IF I LINK MY BETHESDA.NET ACCOUNT TO THE WRONG STEAM ACCOUNT?

 

You can unlink your Steam and Bethesda.net accounts a limited number of times until the Bethesda Launcher closes on 11 May.

 

WHAT IF I ALREADY OWN A BETHESDA GAME ON STEAM?

 

Any game you have on Bethesda will still migrate to Steam but you will not gain anything for items or content already purchased on Steam.

 

WHEN CAN I START MIGRATING MY GAMES TO STEAM?

 

You can begin to transfer your games to Steam on 27 April.

Check the official Bethesda website on how to do this from 27 April.

 

HOW DO I TRANSFER MY GAME SAVES FROM BETHESDA TO STEAM?

 

Find your Bethesda game save locations and copy everything in the “Save” file and paste it into your Steam save location for the same game.

 
  • Default Bethesda Save Location: C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\id Software\<game>\base\savegame
  • Default Steam Save Location: C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\id Software\<game>\base
 

Note: Save game locations may vary if you choose to install them on anything but the default drive and location.
