Beat’em up Game ‘Absolum’ Joins Xbox Game Pass Today

Absolum launches on Xbox Series X|S and straight into Xbox Game Pass today, March 25. Play on Ultimate, PC, and Premium.

Great day for Xbox players, especially Xbox Game Pass members, as Absolum finally makes its way to Microsoft’s ecosystem. After skipping the platform on launch, Dotemu is ready to make its big debut today. The only question now is, do we also get the promised crossplay?

 

Absolum Launches on Xbox and Game Pass Today

Absolum initially launched on October 9, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Nintendo Switch. While its absence on Switch 2 wasn’t too surprising, the omission of an Xbox version was. Before long, a community manager addressed the issue on Discord, sharing that because of how small the dev team is, they had to prioritize and Xbox didn’t make the cut. At the time, another team member stated that there were no plans for an Xbox version yet.

Fortunately, that changed this year when Dotemu announced last week that the game will make its debut on Xbox and straight to Xbox Game Pass too today. It’s a really solid game so this addition definitely adds value to the service.

While technically it is a day-one launch, it will be available on Ultimate, PC, and Premium tiers. This marks the 15th title in the March 2026 lineup. There’s three more in line before the month closes, unless of course there’s a shadow drop. If there is, it will most likely be announced tomorrow during the Xbox Partner Preview show.

   

Absolum is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up with roguelite elements, set in the original fantasy world of Talamh, where magic has been outlawed and the Sun King Azra rules through fear and control. Developed by a team known for refining the genre, the game follows a group of rebel heroes as they rise against Azra’s regime, using a mix of fast-paced melee combat, spellcasting, counters, and powerful combos.

Runs feature different paths and unpredictable encounters, encouraging experimentation and adaptation with each attempt. Players can fight solo or in co-op. The team have stated in the past that crossplay will arrive early 2026 but there was no mention of it during Xbox’s announcement. We’re still counting on it though!
