Assetto Corsa 2: No Release Window before the end of June 2024

In a recent financial report from the publisher Digital Bros, it seems there is negative news regarding Assetto Corsa 2 by Kunos Simulazioni. In fact, the title that was supposed to be released on 30th June 2024, is not mentioned in the publisher’s report.

It seems possible that the title is probably postponed to a new date to be defined. This is also a symptom of a deep financial loss compared to the previous year, of about 21%, for Digital Bros.

What is Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa is a car racing simulator developed by the Italian team at Kunos Simulazioni. Their first title debuted in 2013 as an Early Access title, receiving good feedback and officially releasing the following year. In 2019, we have Assetto Corsa Competizione which brings the series onto Unreal Engine 4, along with a general improvement of car models, tracks, weather effects, and lighting.

While the first two titles were published by 505 Games, subsequently the team was acquired by Digital Bros for 4.3 million euros and developing the new Assetto Corsa 2 on their behalf. What has always been particularly striking about the series is not only the care in the models of cars and official tracks but also how since 2014 the series integrated VR functionalities, becoming the best choice for fans of augmented reality experience with good feedback in a racing setup with a headset and steering wheel. Not to mention the good modding support. But also the longevity of support, with Assetto Corsa Competizione still receiving new updates and content to this day.

When does Assetto Corsa 2 come out and what does it bring new to the series

If the official release date was that of 30 June 2024, the lack of any mention in the aforementioned Digital Bros report suggests that Assetto Corsa 2 may receive a potential delay. It is not entirely clear what the reasons behind the delay are, hopefully, the reason is related to bringing a clean and optimal experience at launch rather than potential development issues. We still need to wait for official news from the team to have an exact date, but it is not impossible for the title to be released by the end of 2024, hoping it won’t be delayed to late 2025.
