Arctic Awakening (AA) is a first-person exploratory survival adventure from the team at GoldFire Studios. An indie development team from Oklahoma City founded in 2008, they’re bringing a new ambitious project. Taking us on an adventure through the ice after our plane crashes.
Playing as Kai with his talking drone Alfie, we’ll try to survive while searching for our missing co-pilot. Announced on 25 March 2021, the team has since released demos but also had to delay the title multiple times. The last news dates back to April with the updated Demo. Arctic Awakening – Release Date and Platforms Revealed
Following the last update on 30 April 2025, with the updated Demo, GoldFire Studios finally brings new info about Arctic Awakening. Their ambitious sci-fi survival adventure in the Arctic. Just announced on 14 August 2025, the launch date is set for 18 September 2025. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Accompanied by the official trailer, we’ll play as pilot Kai. He finds himself stranded in the Arctic region after his plane crashed during an expedition. Accompanied by the drone Alfie, we’ll search for our co-pilot Donovan. Soon discovering a great mystery hidden in the ice.
Arctic Awakening: What Does This Icy Adventure Offer?
With over 5 years of development, Arctic Awakening aims to be the most ambitious title yet from GoldFire Studios. An immersive exploratory adventure as Kai. In search of co-pilot Donovan, discovering mysterious hidden structures in the middle of nowhere. And they are somehow connected to what tore the tail off the protagonist’s plane.
On top of that, we’ll make various choices during the adventure, which will have a certain impact on the story. From the relationship between Kai and Donovan, to the game world itself. The adventure can be played across 5 chapters with about 1-2 hours of content each. Allowing you to pick up or tackle the adventure at your own pace.
