PUBG on Xbox One Won’t Get War Mode
Sanhok has finally arrived on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the Xbox One. It was part of the 1.0 update which also came along with the Event Pass, some performance updates as well as bug fixes. However, fans were quite disappointed because War Mode and Custom Matcher were not included. According to PUBG Corp., they will be staggering the release of each one, with War Mode probably launching as a late September weekend event, and Custom Matches launching in October.
A New Online Co-op Lord of the Rings Game Reportedly in the Works
It has been reported that a new Lord of the Rings online co-op game is in the works. The publisher is Athlon Games and they were able to get an agreement with Middle-earth Enterprises the company that manages the rights of The Lord of the Rings or to be specific the whole of J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. It has also been said that the game’s story is set long before the events of The Lord of the Rings. For right now that is all that we know of it. A targeted release date for the game has not been announced as well.
Dakar 18 Release Slightly Delayed
Cross-country rally simulation game Dakar 18 will be delaying its release for a few days. The game is scheduled to be released on September 11th, but its new release date is now September 25, 2018. Dakar 18 will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game is based on the world-famous annual Rally Raid which was organized by Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) in South America. It features an array of official vehicles, and boasts of its open world as one of the largest open worlds ever created.
BattleTech: Flashpoint Features Free Arcade Mode and Ally-Only Shops
BattleTech’s newest expansion is called Flashpoint and soon and it will come with a free update, a version 1.3, as well as a Career Mode that is arcade-like. The new mode is not part of the game’s story but it will let players fly around as a mercenary commander. The Career Mode also includes scoring that is just like what we have in the 80’s. No tutorials will be available and it will not have a story mission as well. Players would just have to jump right in and go from there.
Call of Duty: World War II Announces Covert Storm Event
Sledgehammer Games is on a roll with its Call of Duty announcements. Right on the heels of its Black Ops 4 Blackout announcement, Sledgehammer revealed a brand new event, and this time it’s for Call of Duty: World War II. The event is called Covert Storm, and like previous events, this one adds more free content. Covert Storm adds three new weapons to the game: the AS-44 assault rifle, Proto X-1 submachine gun, and the VMG 1927 light-machine gun. It also adds new animated camos as well as a new community challenge. Covert Storm is live now on PC and consoles.
Stardew Valley Cross-Play Not Happening Anytime Soon
Stardew Valley has recently released a multiplayer function for PC after an extensive beta, but if you’re wanting your friends playing on consoles to hop in on the fun with you, that won’t be possible as the game won’t be getting cross-play support anytime soon. Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone said in a tweet that he doesn’t have a set release date for cross-play at this time, and he didn’t want to make any vague promises. He added that it is still in development and will let players know of a release date as soon as possible.
Moonfall Ultimate Has Officially Launched
Fishcow Studio’s hand-painted 2D action-RPG Moonfall Ultimate has officially launched on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The developers took inspiration from the classic game Golden Axe for this game. Players unearth the story of The Empire which is now threatened by Barbarians who hunt a mysterious element called Lunarium which can be found in The Empire as well as in the player’s character. Moonfall Ultimate features a Campaign and Endless Mode, three character classes, and in-game economy.
Bandai Namco Announces Tokyo Game Show Lineup
The Tokyo Game Show 2018 is coming this September 20th up until the 23rd and it will be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba near Tokyo. Bandai Namco will be in attendance and will bring with them Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, One Piece: World Seeker, Soulcalibur 6, and Jump Force. All of these will come with a playable demo as well a trailer. God Eater 3 will also be present and will be playable as well with a new trailer plus a livestream and a stage show too. There is no mention though for Code Vein.
Prey: Mooncrash Rolls Out Rogue Moon Update
Prey: Mooncrash got a free update which introduces new operator skins that pay tribute to the favorite roguelikes of Arkane Studios. These are: Spelunky, Rogue Legacy, Darkest Dungeon, Risk of Rain, Dead Cells, and Don’t Starve. Prey: Mooncrash is a standalone expansion to Prey 2017, and it is in itself a roguelike which sees players restarting a run after dying instead of coming back to a checkpoint. This makes the new operator skins a perfect addition to the expansion.
Valkyria Chronicles 4’s Post-Launch Add-Ons Revealed
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is launching on September 25th for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. The game’s post-launch add-ons have also been revealed which are the Japanese Voice pack and Tank Decals arriving the same day of the launch. Squad E, to the Beach! on October 9th, A Captainless Squad on October 23rd, Expert Level Skirmishes on November 4th, The Two Valkyria on November 20th, Edy’s Advance Ops on December 4th and A United Front with Squad 7 on December 18th.
Free Skin for Players Who Enable Two-Factor Authorization on Rainbow Six Siege
Just a couple of weeks ago, Epic Games offered a free dance emote for Fortnite players who decided to enable two-factor authentication. This time it’s Ubisoft’s turn, as the company is offering a free a unique Thermite skin in exchange for players enabling two-factor authentication on Rainbow Six Siege. Instructions for enabling this on your account are available in the Ubisoft forum. Players who compete in Ranked matches won’t be able to join without enabling two-factor authorization, as this is required.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4’s Blackout Map Revealed
Treyarch has revealed the map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout battle royale mode. The map includes 13 marked locations, and it’s divided by a river which players will surely have to cross frequently. Basing on the map Treyarch revealed, it looks like Blackout’s map will feature mostly dense forests. It also looks like there’s some kind of a desert environment, too. There are still very little details on Blackout, but we can expect to know more as its beta draws near.
Hitman 2 Teases New Recovery Feature in New Trailer
In Hitman 2, stealth is an important part of the game, but there may be times when players screw up like getting compromised by a passerby, or a security camera. If this happens to you quite a lot, Hitman 2’s new feature, Picture-in-Picture should be of help. This feature keeps track of how you messed up. It alerts players of important events as they happen, and providing crucial context to help players plan their next move. Hitman 2 will be available starting November 13, 2018.
R-Type Dimensions Heading to PC and Switch This Winter
R-Type Dimensions, the classic arcade shoot-’em-up from publisher Tonzai Games will be heading to PC and the Nintendo Switch later this year. The game was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2009. R-Type Dimensions bundles together all eight stages of the 1987 arcade classic R-Type from Irem, and its six-stage sequel R-Type II. Both of these are playable either in their original 2D form, or with its upgraded 3D graphics and sound. It is expected to release winter of 2018.
Death Stranding to be Part of TGS 2018 Stage Event
Hideo Kojima’s upcoming PS4-exclusive game Death Stranding will be making an appearance at this year’s Tokyo Game Show happening on September 23rd. Kojima Productions announced in a tweet that / the game will be featured in a stage show where director Kojima himself will make an appearance along with voice actors. It is unclear at this time whether there will be gameplay reveals during the show.
Deviljho Stomps Into Monster Hunter World on PC
The first free update for Monster Hunter World has released, and it comes with some badass beast – Deviljho. It will invade 6 Star quests, 7 star quests, and high rank expeditions once players have completed the investigation for the “??? Rathian” in the main story. The Deviljho special assignment will be unlocked once players complete certain conditions. The free update also includes bug fixes.
PUBG Gets New Reward System
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ update 2.1, which adds the much-awaited training mode as well as a new weapon, a new vehicle, and some tweaks, also includes a new reward system. The new reward system is mission-based where players need to complete objectives like surviving at least 20 minutes, in order to earn rewards. Completing these will grant players survival XP, and every time a survival level is earned, players unlock a reward.
Anthem Launches as a Complete Package on Day One
BioWare has recently confirmed that Anthem will be releasing as a complete game come launch day. Executive Producer Mark Darrah said in an interview that players can expect “a good, valuable game” at Anthem’s launch. The game is a complete package, so players will be able to play for months even if they were not layering a live service on top of it. Anthem heads to PC, Xbox One and PS4 on February 22, 2019. It will also receive a free story DLC.
Frozen Synapse 2 Launches Next Week
Frozen Synapse 2, the sequel to the tactical game of the same title, will be released on September 13th, developer Mode 7 confirmed. The game lets players command their own squads in a vast procedurally generated city. In single player mode, players are tasked to defend the city of Markov Geist against threats from within and outside it. The game’s multiplayer mode features both the classics from the original and some new ones. The game will be available on PC via Steam.
Fallout 76 Will Make Players Work Together to Get Nuclear Launch Codes
A new video has been presented for Fallout 76 and it is all about teamwork! It shows how players should work together in order to get the nuclear launch codes and survive. Across the Appalachian wasteland are parts of the nuclear launch codes, and players must combine the pieces together along with the other survivors to get the full code. The powerful nuclear missiles can destroy fissures that have Scorchbeasts or other survivors, your choice. Fallout 76 launches on November 14th.
Jagged Alliance: Rage Launches September 27th
THQ Nordic announces their sequel to Jagged Alliance 2 which is Jagged Alliance: Rage and it will launch on September 27th. A gameplay trailer had been released along with the announcement and we are able to see that Ivan Dolvich is back with his killing spree. This had come as a surprise as the game had just been announced a few weeks ago and the launch date is already in sight. Hopefully, though this sequel to the turn-based classic would be good because some of the previous ones bombed.
Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Planning to Add Photo Mode in the Game
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a photo mode as seen in CD Projekt Red’s response in Twitter where somebody posted “I will be very sad if this game doesn’t have a photo mode” and they responded with “We are planning to have it.” This is great news to those playing the game as the Night City is very rich in detail and artful screenshots are surely just a click away. For right now, CD Projekt Red has not announced the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 but we do know that it will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
