Shovel Knight Gets Multiplayer Brawler in Final DLC
Shovel Knight’s fourth DLC has been announced by developer Yacht Club Games. The DLC is called Showdown and was first mentioned to us back in 2013. Showdown is a local multiplayer brawler that will pit together four players against each other across different modes and a variety of stages. There will also be 16 characters available including Shovel Knight, The Temptress and all the characters of the Knights of the Order of No Quarter. Modes included are free-for-alls and co-op and so much more.
Gwent Gets Single-Player RPG Spin-off Thronebreaker
The Witcher’s card game spinoff Gwent is releasing a single-player RPG called Thronebreaker. Thronebreaker’s single-player experience will be fairly similar to The Witcher. It will feature decision-making, combat, and over 30 hours of story in a card-based game. Thronebreaker is gearing towards becoming somewhat like Blizzard’s Hearthstone. CD Projekt Red has not released a launch date for the game at this time.
Skyrim Mod Lets Players Clone and Marry Themselves
A new mod in Skyrim lets you clone yourself! The name of the mod is the Doppelganger Follower that has been created by PsykotikKrymes. How this works is that you will recreate yourself as a follower and then drop them off at the Sleeping Giant Inn in order for recruitment. Everything will be the same, from your name to the shouts that you use as well as the spells. The only difference is that as a separate entity, you will be allowed to marry them, which may sound crazy but it can happen.
Fortnite’s New Ace Pack Includes a Skin and V-Bucks
A new bundle for Fortnite has been introduced by Epic and it is called the Ace Pack. This is now available for all its platforms which are PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile. This is a really good deal since players could get two new cosmetics which are the Ace Outfit and the Swag Bag Back Bling. In addition to that, the new pack will also come with 600 V-Bucks that you can use to purchase additional cosmetics with or keep for a Battle Pass. Only one pack can be purchased per account.
Onimusha Remaster Announced
Onimusha: Warlords is having a remastered version that will be available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch as well as PC by 2019. The game first released in 2001 which follows the story of Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede as they save Princess Yuki. The game is now getting a high-definition graphics overhaul for its cinematics, environments and characters. A widescreen support will also be available as well as its classic display modes. There will be analog sticks support and a new soundtrack.
New PC Game Parkasaurus Announced
A dinosaur-themed park tycoon simulation game from Washbear Studios is coming to Steam Early Access and it is called Parkasaurus. It is like Jurassic park but much more silly. Your role will be to run the park from its design exhibits to the needs of your customers. Players get to start out with 80 buildable items, 4 different employee types as well as 24 dinosaurs. What’s cute is that players are able to dress up their dinos with sunglasses, neckties and more. Parkasaurus launches on September 25.
Fortnite’s Purple Cube is Now Glowing and Emitting a Dome
The mysterious purple cube in Fortnite has something new for players today. After moving from its original position, the purple cube is now glowing and is emitting a low-gravity dome. This dome is affecting anyone who is within its range. So far Epic Games has not said anything about this mysterious cube, but curious players found out this cube is bouncy, and you won’t find anything inside when you find yourself getting in.
Dota 2’s Latest Hero Grimstroke Revealed
Valve has revealed the new Dota 2 hero, and it’s no other than Grimstroke. He takes on the support role, and he’s good at disabling heroes that have ranged attacks. His Q ability is called Stroke of Fate, where he streaks a projectile of black ink across the battlefield, damaging and slowing enemies in its path. His W ability is called Phantom’s Embrace where a phantom latches on to an enemy and then silencing and damaging it. E is for his Ink Swell ability which covers an ally in ink, and R is used to control his Soulbound ability.
SoulCalibur 6 Might Be Getting Another Guest Character
Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher might not be the only guest character in SoulCalibur VI. The producer Motohiro Okubo was interviewed during Gamescom and he mentioned that there will be six DLC drops available in the season pass. The first one is Tira and three other additional characters will be made available. The other two drops are character customization packages. So with that, the possibility does exist! SoulCalibur VI launches on October 19 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Black Ops 4’s Signature Weapons Announced
Teyarch and Activision have officially announced a new type of weapon for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 called Signature Weapons. These weapons are not different weapons, but instead they are variants of existing guns – more specifically, they’re upgrades of the weapon’s look, and won’t affect the weapons’ stats. Players who pre-ordered the game will be able to take control of a specific Signature Weapon right from the start.
Rune Early Access Date Announced, Beta Test Happening This WeekendThe highly anticipated Follow up to Rune, which is Rune: Ragnarok is coming to Steam Early Access on September 19. Also starting this weekend, September 1, a closed beta playtest is available starting at 2 PM BST and ending at 9 AM BST the following day. Discounts are also available during the weekend for the game as well as for its packs. In addition to this, the first 10,000 people who are able to preorder the game Rune will get a copy of the original Rune Classic that came out in 2000 for free.

SCUM Breaks Devolver Digital’s Launch Records
Devolver Digital’s SCUM recently launched and it’s shaping to be one of the biggest game launches for the publisher. The game launched in Steam’s early access and at present, it has already reached about 50,000 concurrent players so if that is the case, then it most possibly means that the game sold 50,000 units. The exact sales figures is not available as of yet though. For those who don’t know, SCUM is the very realistic survival game from developer Gamspires.
Dragon Ball FighterZ Reveals Cooler’s Gameplay
A new Dragon Ball FighterZ character is coming to the game and it is Freiza’s brother named Cooler. To introduce this new fighter, Bandai Namco shared a 5-minute character gameplay trailer which is actually a full round of fighting with Cooler, of course, being the victor in the fight. Cooler is expected to release by late September – coincidentally this is also the time that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch. The game is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
The Sinking City Showcases First Gameplay
Frogwares has released the first-ever proper gameplay for its Lovecraftian-inspired detective open world game The Sinking City. The gameplay showcased a walkthrough of an early investigation mission. The gameplay was that of a small-scale side quest called Silence is Golden where the player must traverse the city and is tasked to track down a mysterious figure that the local librarian believes to have been breaking into her home. The Sinking City is slated for release on March 21st for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Rocket League’s Leveling System Gets Reset in New Update
Rocket League has received a new update which is now live on all its platforms. It is a progression update that changes the way the game’s leveling system works. XP can only be earned online and matches would have to be 60 seconds or more for players to earn any XP. Small bursts of XP is still available from scoring, being the MVP, or replacing a bot. The level cap has also been removed in the game as well as the Rookie and Semi-Pro titles. The full patch notes are available in their website.
New Gran Turismo Sport Update Includes 8 New Cars
A bunch of new content is coming to Gran Turismo Sport. These new content includes 8 new vehicles as well as a new track, as well as an option to view previous championship rankings. Aside from these, three additional challenges for drivers are included in the update and will be added to GT League Events: the Beetle & Samba Bus Festa for Beginners, Group 3 Cup for Amateurs, and Nostalgic 1979 for Professionals.
Gamescom 2018 Records 370,000 Attendees
This year’s Gamescom has set a new attendance record for the annual gaming event. According to the organizers, over 370,000 people from 114 countries came to the exhibition, which definitely reflects this year’s guiding theme of “Diversity Wins”. Not only that, it has now become the most attended iteration of the event, breaking last year’s record of 355,000 attendees. The event was also graced by 1,037 companies from 56 different countries who exhibited at this year’s event.
Free-to-Play FPS Dirty Bomb Officially Launches
Team shooter Dirty Bomb has finally reached its version 1.0 and is out of the open beta stage. Set in a futuristic London which is ravaged by nuclear radiation, you will play as one of the 23 high-tech mercenaries. It offers a gameplay that feels like a mix of Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2. Dirty Bomb is available on Steam, free to play. Starting players will get some goodies as well as a 14-day credit booster. Returning veterans will get in addition a cosmetic open beta item within 2 weeks from now.
General Grievous is Coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 This October
Summer has not ended yet, but EA and DICE have announced their plans for Star Wars Battlefront 2 coming this Fall. First of all, coming this September is the improved squad system as well as new appearance for existing characters. Coming in October is a new character, General Grievous. We are yet to get more details about him as EA and DICE have not mentioned any specifics at this time. Come November, a much bigger update is expected. Spelunky 2 Finally Releasing to PC Next Year
A sequel to Spelunky which is Spelunky 2 is set to launch sometime in 2019. The game is set to release for PC and PlayStation 4. The game’s story takes place after the events of the first game. Changes can be expected though like the addition of the second layer per level. This new layer will make it possible for players to go back and forth between each level. A “safe” path to the exit has also been added but of course, the second layer will be more interesting as it gives a twist to randomized levels.
Thrones of Britannia Adds Allegiance System, Gore DLC Also Announced
Creative Assembly has just launched a new free update for A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia and its a big one. The update adds the Allegiance and Decree Systems to the game. Allegiance dictates how much an area supports you while Decrees allow players to gain temporary grand policies with various passive perks. A new paid DLC called Blood, Sweat and Spears also launched alongside the update, which adds a multitude of gore effects including “ultra-violent battle fatalities”.
Shark Battle Royale Last Tide Out Now on Early Access
If you haven’t had enough with battle royale games, then this new one will surely delight you. Last Tide is a battle royale game that involves fighting underwater and sharks. Just like other battle royale games, 100 players – called Divers – will go underwater and battle it out to see who will be the last one standing. Sharks are also lurking underneath, so players have to look out for them. You can also use them to attack your enemies. If you want to check this out, it is available now on Steam Early Access.
