Nintendo Eshop Features Deals On Best Selling Indie Titles of 2019
The Nintendo Eshop now features the best selling games of 2019 in its latest sale! The sale includes slashed prices for 12 games: Baba Is You, Blasphemous, Castle Crashers Remastered, Cuphead, Downwell, My Friend Pedro, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, Slay the Spire, Steamworld Quest: Hand of Gilgamesh, Terraria, Torchlight 2, and Unravel 2. The sale only lasts until December 28th.
Soma Developer Frictional Games Teases New Game
Frictional Games, the studio behind horror hits Soma and Amnesia, has teased its next game. The teaser is really vague for now, but the studio has launched a new website named ‘Next Frictional Game’, and it looks like they’re going to use it to announce new games in the future, the website only has a tiny, blinking dot for now. The studio has been known for mysterious teasers. With Soma, they teased the game for years with trailers before launching it, while with Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, the company used Google Maps images and launched a search for the website’s search code.
GTA Online Giving Away New Year’s Holiday Gifts and More This Week
The holiday cheer is not over in GTA Online, as the game is offering new treats for players this week. A new vehicle, the Dewbauchee JB 700W (Warstock Cache Carry), has been added. There are also a ton of discounts on vehicles. Real estate offerings are also available at 50% off this week. Players who will also log in on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will be able to claim holiday-themed rewards daily such as yellow reindeer lights bodysuit (Dec.31). Logging in before January 1st will also reward players with holiday-themed clothing.
Steam Highlights Top Sellers, Most Played and Early Games
Steam has revealed its best of 2019 charts, announcing the site’s top sellers, top new releases, top early access graduates and more. The list is divided into platinum, gold, silver, and bronze categories. In top sellers, GTA 5 is among those in the Platinum category. The top releases of 2019 include Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Destiny 2, Remnant: From The Ashes, Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, and Code Vein. The best early access grads include My Time at Portia, Beat Saber, Slay the Spire, and more in the Platinum category.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon Shows Off New Playable Character
Sega released a brand new trailer for Yakuza: Like A Dragon, featuring the game’s playable characters. The trailer is extensive, and is almost 5 minutes in length, as it features each of the characters, plus the jobs they come with. It also shows the jobs they can switch to. The trailer includes recently revealed new characters Joon Gi Han, Tianyou Zhao, and Eri Kamataki. There’s a lot more to see including a minigame and activities. Yakuza: Like A Dragon is scheduled for release in Japan on January 16th. A western release date is yet to be announced.
ViCi Gaming Sweeps Evil Geniuses in One eSports Dota World Pro Invitational
This year’s final major Dota 2 tournament has concluded, with the top teams from China and North America facing off in the finals. China’s Vici Gaming emerged as the top Dota 2 team in the One eSports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational during the finals held on December 22nd in Singapore. The team won 3-0 against Evil Geniuses. Vici’s performance was impressive, considering how they even battled against other giants in the lower bracket and finally making their way into the playoffs. The team went home with 200,000 dollars prize money plus the last major trophy.
Monster Hunter Receives Compatibility Patch in Preparation for Iceborn
Capcom is getting ready for the release of Monster Hunter World’s Iceborn expansion on January 9th. The studio has released a compatibility patch for the game, with most of the changes affecting console version. You can read the extensive list of changes on the game’s website. Meanwhile, the game is also celebrating the holidays with its Holiday Joy Fest, and players will get an exclusive Oolong layered armor in Iceborn. The offer lasts until January 5th only.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Reveals New Screenshots
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has released a new set of screenshots, featuring new images of characters Trunks, Android 18, Goten, and more. The screenshots also show these characters in action, showcasing some of their powers. These screenshots were first revealed in Weekly Shonen Jump, then were later posted on the game’s Facebook page. The post shows a clearer look minus the magazine’s busy overlay.
AO Tennis 2 Creator Tool Now Available
Big Ant Studios has released AO Tennis 2’s Creator Tool which allows players to create their own tennis players and stadiums. The creator tool is an app that players can load to their PCs ahead of the game’s release on January 9th. Players can create their content and upload them in the cloud, which they can later download to their game when it launches. The Creator Tool includes customization options such as height, face, apparel, and even a logo. AO Tennis 2 will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Onion Game’s Moon English Version Delayed
Onion Games founder Yoshiro Kimura announced that the English version of his upcoming game, Moon, will be delayed, In a post on Onion Games’ website, Kimura said, “The Localization of Moon is actually going great! But there are many, many more things involved than just translating the text.” He added that he and his tiny team have been working very hard all year, and asked for understanding as they take a little time to rest as they are all exhausted. Kimura also mentioned Moon’s localization is already 40% done and asked that they be given more time to work on it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Epic Store Sales Did Not Fare Well
Red Dead Redemption 2 has been a much-requested game by PC players, however, it looks like its PC launch was not as successful as fans hoped it would be. Superdate has reported that Red Dead Redemption 2 only sold 408,000 units at the Epic Games Store. It was exclusive on Epic and Rockstar’s launcher for a year before opening its doors on Steam. Its Steam release is also showing small numbers, with only 51,403 players on its all-time peak concurrent count, as reported by Steam charts. GTA 5, in comparison.

Steam was able to share the best of the most played games this year. These are the games that had the highest peak simultaneous players for 2019. The top games had over 100,000 simultaneous players and they are Dota Underlords, Destiny 2, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Sekro Shadows Die Twice, PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds, Dota 2, Warframe, Empyrean, Halo, Grand Theft Auto 5, CS:GO Operation Shattered Web and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The games are not listed in any specific order.

Free Game Ultimate Reality Out Now
A cool free game for PC has been announced by Indiexpo and it is called Ultimate Reality. The game is a 2D pixelated adventure and it is all about an entity that threatens to wipe out all the realities that exist. Players will fight of enemies that will come from different environments as well as realities. There will be 10 different unlockable dimensional abilities as well as 5 different maps that are located in different dimensions. The game is available for download now!
Dota 2 New Update Takes Out Sange Stacking
Recently Dota 2 was able to receive an update that fixes the bug that has upgraded amplifications. The new outlanders’ update was able to remove the Sange’s old maim ability that slowed enemies on hit and was replaced by a health regeneration amplification effect. This AMP stacked additively which had unintended results having a high win rate in immortal level pubs. This has been fixed as well as the amplification component Holy Locket that builds up from a magic wand.
Xenosaga Remaster Trilogy Won’t Happen
If you heard rumors about Xenosaga Remaster Trilogy, well Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada cleared everything for us. He said that “This actually progressed to the remaster’s plan, but failed in a profitable market analysis.” Katsuhiro even added, “Sorry guys, this plan will be difficult to resurface”. That means that there had been plans for it but due to budget concerns it is a no-go. Unless the game gets a miracle game resurgence, then that could probably bring this game to life.
RetroArch Adds New Features For The Visually Impaired
The popular application for running classic games called RetroArch is adding a new accessibility feature which can help people who are blind or visually impaired to play games as well. The software will be using an Ai to read in-game texts and say it out loud. Right now, the feature is still in its initial stages but is working impressively. Other features had been added to the application like optical character recognition, extracting texts from images and many more.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Event Ongoing
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has an ongoing event that started yesterday and it will be the last spirit event of 2019. The event is called “Energy! Spirit of Shorts”. This will run for three days only and it will be granting additional treats to players. The spirits that will be available all wear shorts like Ness, Roll Caskett from Mega Man Legends, Murch from Splatoon, Andy and Sporty Luigi from Advance Wars.
New PlayStation DualShock Controller Patent Approved
A new PlayStation DualShock controller had its patent approved earlier this week. The patent had been seen in the world intellectual property organization database and it clearly shows a new feature for the controller. The front of the controller is similar to that of the PlayStation 4 DualShock but it now has back triggers as part of the controller itself. It is still not sure if the new controller is for the PlayStation 4 or perhaps the upcoming PlayStation 5.
Chengdu Hunters Says Goodbye to YangXiaoLong and Jiqiren
Chengdu Hunters announced they are parting ways with two of their players namely Zhihao “YangXiaoLong” Zhang and main tank Yansong “Jiqiren” Wei, The Termination of contracts is a mutual agreement between the team and the players. YangXiangLong singed with the team in November 2018. While Jiqiren signed in January. Both were only able to play during stage three because of Visa issues. The Hunters thanked both players for all their efforts both on and off stage.
Kingdom Hearts Remind New Details Revealed
The website of Kingdom Hearts Remind shared new details about the upcoming Remind DLC. The new expansion will be adding an extra scenario to the game which will have Sora facing off against the Seven Guardians of Light. There will also be a selection of newly-playable characters that include Kairi, Riku, Roxas, and Aqua. Kingdom Hearts 3 is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
