Chucklefish Announces Inmost

Chucklefish has announced a new story-driven platformer from Lithuanian studio Hidden Layer Games. Titled simply as Inmost, the game follows a “dark, interconnecting story” that involve’s its 3 playable characters. The game is set in an old, abandoned castle filled with traps, puzzles, secret passages, and deadly enemies. Fans of retro-styled games will most like love the pixel art style used by the developers. The game is due out next year but Chucklefish has not confirmed which platforms the game will launch on.


Rainbow Six Siege eSports Team Weapons Skins and Charms Coming With Grim Sky

Ubisoft has announced that Rainbow Six Siege players will soon be able to show support for their favorite pro teams while in-game. Custom weapon skins and charms based on each pro Siege team will become available early next month, with the first set launching together with the Operation Grim Sky update. Ubisoft also shared that 21% of the sales will go to the corresponding esports team while 9% will go to the pro league invitational prize pool. You can check out screenies of the skins on Reddit.


Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark Out Now

If you’ve been waiting for games like Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics to hit PC, this might be good news for you. A new turn-based tactical RPG called Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark has just launched on Steam Early Access. The allows you to fully customize your party, changing between 25 classes and handpicking between 200 skills to form the ultimate lineup suitable to your play style. Currently, there are about 21 story encounters and 30 optional ones for early adopters to enjoy.


Monster Hunter World Reaches 10 Million in Sales

Monster Hunter World has now passed 10 million units sold across all platforms. This figure includes physical and digital sales. Capcom’s monster hit already sold 8 million units on consoles before its PC launch, and then became the biggest launch of the year on Steam. This puts sales for the Monster Hunter series at over 50 million units. The game has now also become Capcom’s best-selling game ever. This just goes to show that Capcom’s efforts to push the once niche series to mainstream gaming have certainly paid off.


Mass Effect 3 Mod Greatly Improves Final Mission

A team of dedicated modders including ‘Araron’ have released the first part of the Priority Earth Overhaul mod. The mod aims to improve Mass Effect 3’s final mission by improving textures and gameplay, restoring cut content, adding new scenes and dialogue, and much more. The mod is planned for 3 stages of release, with stage 2 focusing on expanding the Earth hub while stage 3 will bring new missions and gameplay elements. Dota 2 The International Prize Pool is Bigger Than Ever

The prize pool for The International 2018, this year’s culminating and premier Dota 2 esports event, has just surpassed last year’s prize pool, breaking the record for the largest prize pool in the history of esports. Valve paid out a total of $38 million during last year’s Dota 2 events, including $20.7 million during The International 2017. Valve won’t be holding the record for very long though as Epic Games will be giving out $100 million for the 2018-2019 season of Fortnite esports tournaments.


Tekken 7’s Anna Williams and Lei Wulong Get a Release Date

Series producer Kasuhiro Harada has recently revealed just when the first part of Tekken 7’s Season 2 of DLCs will be launching. Tekken fans will want to mark September 6th on their calendars as that’s when Lei Wulong and Anna Williams will be joining the game’s roster. Lei and Anna can be purchased separately or with the game’s Season 2 Pass. A massive update is also scheduled to drop on the same day, bringing with it massive balance changes and a brand new mechanic called “Wall Bounce”.


Insomnia: The Ark Gets New Lore Trailer

A new trailer for the upcoming story-driven RPG Insomnia: The Ark has been released, and it talks about the game’s lore. In Insomnia: The Ark, players will find themselves in space aboard a space station called Object 6. Also aboard it are the people of Nomah who fled from a dying planet that was engulfed by war. The trailer is narrated by Prime General Azar who narrates the history of the Nomah as well as his impact on the citizens of Object 6. We can learn more about Azar’s intentions when Insomnia: The Ark is released for PC this year.


Rainbow Six Siege Plans to Stop Cheating with Two-Factor Authentication

A mandatory two-factor authentication will be introduced to Rainbow Six Siege ranked matches in order to combat cheaters and players boosting their accounts. Brand Director Alexandre Remy said during the Six Major in Paris that so far, there haven’t been any serious consequences for these players – if he gets banned, he simply needs to create a new account. Remy sees the mandatory two-factor authentication as a way to reduce the number of cheaters “because hackers and cheaters now have more problems changing accounts over and over again,” Remy said.


The Division Update Nerfs Striker’s Battlegear Set

Tom Clancy’s The Division’s update 1.8.3 is set to be released August 23rd, and while it includes some bug fixes, it also focuses on a rework of the Striker Battlegear’s classified set. According to Ubisoft, the Striker Battlegear’s EMP will pause stack accumulation and bonus damage and healing won’t be applied. Existing stacks will be lost with time as well as by missing shots. The heal rate is also reduced, and shots landed will only add +1 stack to each bonus when playing in the Dark Zone, Last Stand, and Skirmish.


Knight Club Goes Free-to-Play, But Shadow Knight Won’t Be Playable

Gutter Arcade’s multiplayer platform fighter Knight Club will now be free to play starting August 30th. Players who wish to play the game for free can sign up on Gutter Arcade’s mailing list, and players’ friends who also wish to play on multiplayer will need to sign up as well. In addition to this, Gutter Arcade also released a trailer to simply announce that Shovel Knight won’t be appearing in the game. Knight Club will be available on PC.

Bloodstained Release Delayed to 2019

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the spiritual successor to Castlevania, will be releasing at a later date. This was announced by designer Koji Igarashi through the game’s Kickstarter campaign. The game will now be launched in 2019. According to Igarashi, they need to raise the game’s quality level according to feedback from the demo played by backers, thus the decision to delay the game’s release. In addition, the game won’t be getting a PS Vita version. The game was originally planned to release back in March 2017.

Just Cause 4 Shows Off Tornado Gameplay

Avalanche Studios showcased Just Cause 4’s dynamic weather system through a new gameplay video. The video shows the protagonist Rico Rodriguez taking on a tornado. At the beginning of the video, we’ll see Rico traversing the skies with his wingsuit and parachute, and out front is a tornado. The trailer goes to the next level by showing him driving the Storm Chaser, a special vehicle which Rico can use to follow the tornado. The video also shows just how powerful it is by sucking in buildings, bridges, and more.


Underworld Ascendant Officially Releasing This November

Underworld Ascendant will be released at a later date. The spiritual sequel to Ultima Underworld will now be releasing on November 15th on PC. During this year’s E3, it was announced that the game will release in September. Both publisher 505 and developer OtherSide have not specified a reason for the delay. Underworld Ascendant is an action-role-playing game that is set in the Stygian Abyss which was the setting introduced in Ultima Underworld.


Dead or Alive 6 Adds Two More Fighters to Its Roster

Dead or Alive 6 will be getting two more fighters to its ever-growing roster. The new fighters are Hitomi and Leifang, and both can be seen at the new stage called Forbidden Fortune which also features a kraken. Both Hitomi and Leifang debuted in Dead or Alive 3 and in the original Dead or Alive game. As for their skills, Hitomi uses a combination of offensive and defensive karate, while Leifang uses his t’ai chi ch’uan expertise and combines both holds and counterattacks. Dead or Alive 6 will be available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in early 2019.


First Gameplay Footage for World War 3 Revealed

The Farm 51 has released the first ever gameplay trailer for the upcoming game World War 3. The trailer contains in-game footage and showcases a Battlefield-style combined arms combat as well as gunplay mechanics and movement you can see in triple A games. World War 3 also features gameplay in a Warzone, an authentic “bullet vs. armor system”, vehicle gameplay with tanks and APCs, and also what looks like a guided missile. World War 3 is slated for a Fall 2018 release on Steam Early Access.


Indie Game The Gardens Between Out This September

Time warping adventure puzzle game The Gardens Between finally gets a release date. The game will be launching on September 20th, and will be available on PC, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game takes place in mysterious islands where players will guide the characters Arina and Frendt who are best friends. The puzzles in the game are dreamlike, and are made up of their childhood memories. The game will take players on a nostalgic journey of their past, and even facing hard truths on what they both lost.


Hitman 2 Features All Six Locations From the First Game

Hitman 2 will include the entire first season, io Interactive announced. Dubbed as the Hitman Legacy Pack, this is a DLC that includes all six locations in the first Hitman season and with additional features from Hitman 2. Players who already own Hitman season one will get the Hitman Legacy Pack for free when Hitman 2 launches on November for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.


New Cyberpunk 2077 Details to be Revealed at Gamescom

Cyberpunk 2077 is all set for Gamescom, as CD Projeckt Red has teased something about the game on Twitter. The tweet said something about a system update being available, and that the next system update will be available Tuesday, August 21st, the same day Gamescom 2018 kicks off. The said system update is called “gamescom version 2.18.” We’re excited to find out what CD Projeckt Red has in store for us, so stay tuned for more updates!


Mephisto from Diablo is Heading to Heroes of the Storm

Blizzard is all set for Gamescom with the sudden announcement of long-requested Diablo villaon Mephisto joining Heroes of the Storm. Mephisto is indeed a welcome addition to the Blizzard all-star game since it’s very rare we find Diablo characters being represented in Heroes of the Storm. Mephisto is a ranged assassin. He has mage-based abilities that include a skull missile skillshot, an area-of-effect lightning nova, and teleportation among others.


Fear The Wolves Now Ready for Early Access

Fear The Wolves was supposed to launch on Steam Early Access back in July, however, its release date was pushed back because feedback from closed beta players were not favorable. Looks like Vostok Games valued players’ feedback, and now they have a new release date for the game: August 28th. Fear The Wolves is a battle royale game that is set in the Chernobyl ruins. The game includes usual battle royale elements like looting, but it also includes radiation, hazards, and AI-controlled wolves.


Battlefield 5 Vehicle Customization Will Not Be Available at Launch

Battlefield 5’s much talked about vehicle customization feature won’t be coming to launch. In a new blog post that breaks down its Gamescom trailer, DICE said that the vehicle customization feature will be coming after the game launches. No other details were revealed as to why they decide to not include the feature at launch day. Battlefield 5 will be available starting October 11th, and will launch on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
