AUGUST 20 PART 1

Treyarch Details Changes on Black Ops 4 After Beta

After the Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Beta, Treyarch shared the lessons that they learned from the test. Tweaks will be made based on the beta feedback. Some things that they mentioned are the permanent unlock token for all players who reached level 34 in the beta. Changes to the Fog of War minimap as well as the spawning in certain modes and balancing changes to the body armor will be made. The complete list can be seen on Reddit. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will launch on October 12 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.


Blizzard Announces Their Gamescom 2018 Schedule

 

Blizzard’s schedule at Gamescom 2018 has been announced, and if will start on August 22nd 10:30 AM CEST. The opening ceremony will start at 10:30 AM, then followed by Overwatch at 11:15 AM, World of Warcraft at 12:30 PM, StarCraft at 1:15 PM, Heroes of the Storm at 2:30 PM, and Diablo at 3:45 PM. There will be a guest event by 5 PM, a Video Games Live Concert by 6 PM and the Closing and Recap by 7 PM. For the rest of the event, there will be quiz sessions, dance and cosplay contests and more fun activities.


Fortnite Rifts Are Temporarily Disabled

Rifts have temporarily been disabled in Fortnite. A problematic bug has prevented players to complete one of Week 5’s challenges which require them to use three Rift portals. Now that the portals are temporarily disabled, players who are yet to complete the said challenge would have to wait until Epic says it’s back. There’s no specific date and time as to when the Rifts will be back. Epic said they will be providing updates about this through Twitter, so stay tuned.


Mega Man X Legacy Collection Gets PC Patch

The Mega Man X Legacy Collection received a patch for PC to fix a few latent issues. The game runs well on PS4, but it apparently has issues with the PC version. The patch can be downloaded from Steam and it adderesses the “screen blackouts” that affected some users and sets up the appropriate resolution. Also, a V-Sync toggle has been added. Players can find this in the graphics section in the options menu and Capcom said that it will be able to fix framerate issues by itself.


Blizzard to Announce New Overwatch Content at Gamescom

Blizzard is set for this year’s Gamesom, and among their roster of games to be presented is Overwatch. The game will have its own 30-minute showcase, and Blizzard will be presenting new content that will be coming to the game. The company has not specifically mentioned what announcement we can expect. At last year’s Gamescom, Blizzard presented Mei’s cinematic short, Rise and Shine. It was also during the event that they revealed the Junkertown map.Blizzard’s Gamescom presentation happens on August 22nd.


Valve Launches Steam TV

 

Looks like Valve is launching their very own streaming service that could possibly be a direct competitor of Twitch. Pavel Djundik, curator for third-party website Steam Database, spotted the domain Steam.tv registered by Valve. Upon visiting the site, visitors will be welcomed with: “Welcome to steam.tv” plus a live feed of The International 2018, which is Valve’s Dota 2 eSports tournament. We are yet to get more details from Valve about this, so stay tuned.


Space Hulk Deathwing Enhanced Edition Gets Free DLCc

Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition will be receiving a free update which is the Infested Mines DLC. The expansion will first come to PC and will soon be available for PS4. This will include a new map – Infested Mines – and is available to be played in Solo Special Missions as well as in Multiplayer Co-op. This new map will have more verticallity as compared to the other maps. Also included are some general balances, the ability to turn off the HUD, an additional level of difficulty, and many more.


Fallback Will Be Showcased at Gamescom

 

A new game called Fallback will be shown in Gamescom as revealed in a teaser trailer. The game is about humans surviving after a cataclysmic ecological disaster. They now live underground with technology that can support life. However, from inside other factors are threatening their survival. You are forced to make choices that never in your life should you have to choose from. Fallback will be available as a digital download on Steam for PC by September 2018.


F1 2018 Showcases More Gameplay

F1 2018 is due for launch in a few days’ time, and a new gameplay trailer has been revealed. This is the third gameplay trailer that has so far been released for the game. The first two trailers showcased brand new and classic cars. The third trailer did not talk about anything in particular, however, it gave us a fresh new look at the game thanks to the cool montage of stadiums, people, and of course, race cars. F1 2018 will be available starting August 24, 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.


Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Talks About Naval Gameplay in New Trailer

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which is all about its naval gameplay. In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, naval combat will not be based on cannons, unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games that had naval warfare. Instead, Odyssey’s naval combat will focus on javelins and arrows which will make short-range battles more relevant. It also features better agility and acceleration. Players can now also loot defeated ships – the bigger the ship, the bigger the rewards.


Railway Empire DLC Brings Players to Canada

Kalypso Media has revealed the next DLC expansion for railroad sim Railway Empire. The previous DLC landed players in Mexico, and this time around the new DLC, The Great Lakes, will bring them to Canada in the 1860’s. The expansion includes an extensive campaign, more than 40 historically accurate locomotives and over 30 different wagons that can be acquired over the course of the game, and more than 300 new technologies across five different eras, among others. The Great Lakes DLC is available now on PC and consoles.

Epic Games Releases Fortnite Llama Bell Emote

Epic Games has released a new emote in Fortnite that pays homage to a sketch from the TV show Saturday Night Live. The emote is called “Llama Bell” and epic released it as a way of keeping the game’s fascination with llamas. It is now available for purchase at the Fortnite in-game store. The Llama Bell emote is also kind of a re-creation of Will Ferrell’s dance from his famous “More Cowbell” sketch in Saturday Night Live back in the year 2000.


Forza Horizon 2 is Ending Its Life Soon

Microsoft has announced that Forza Horizon 2 will be removed from the Xbox Store on September 30th because it is reaching its “end of life” status. All of its downloadbale content will also be removed. Microsoft did not specify whether its online services will remain available once the game is removed. There’s also no clear reason why Microsoft is removing the game from the Xbox Store, but back in 2016, Forza Horizon 1 was de-listed 4 years after its release.


New Trailer Released for Far Cry 5 Zombie DLC

Far Cry 5’s next expansion is set to be released on August 28th! The expansion, called Dead Living Zombies, lets players play different film scenarios which were made using the game’s Arcade Editor. Players will face hordes of zombies across different environments. Each time players beat a map, a Score Attack will be unlocked. Players who get a 3-star rating will be rewarded with weapons and gear that they can use in the game’s Story Mode.


Shadow of the Tomb Raider Introduces Enemies in New Trailer

The new Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailer has been released, and this time around, we take a look at all sorts of enemies players will encounter in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The trailer shows wild animals that will attack Lara Croft such as a jaguar, giant eels, and piranhas that attack in hordes. There are also tribal enemies as well as the Trinity soldiers. You’ll get to experience all these and more when Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches on September 14th for PC and consoles.


New Battlefield 5 Trailer Shows Off Fight for Rotterdam

EA and DICE’s upcoming Battlefield game has released a new trailer. The new Battlefield 5 trailer shows off the fight for Rotterdam. The trailer highlights the Rotterdam map and shows the war-torn streets of the city. The map is actually influenced by the same city in Holland in the year 1940 when the German forces battled it out with the Dutch military. Soulcalibur 6 Has Reportedly Gone Gold

Looks like Soulcalibur 6 has gone gold! The game’s producer Motohiro Okubo has tweeted a cryptic tweet in response to a question on whether he will be able to make it to a press event in Los Angeles in the weekend since he will be coming from this week’s Gamescom. He tweeted: “Our souls are burned into the disc. Let’s see how much fuel I have left,,,” which implies that Soulcalibur 6 may have gone gold. Nothing is confirmed yet, so let’s wait for more cocrete information in the coming days.


Blizzard Announces Overwatch Free Weekend

Blizzard has announced that Overwatch will be having a free weekend this week! The free weekend is available for players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Those who wish to try out the game during the free weekend can download Overwatch using the Blizzard Battle.net client, and play from 11 a.m. PT on Thursday, August 23rd until 11:59 p.m. PT on Monday, August 27th. Any progress during the free weekend can be carried over to the full game should a player decide to buy the full game.


Rainbow Six Siege Officially Reveals Two New Operators

Rainbow Six Siege has officially revealed two new Operators. The first one is the defender Clash who’s the first Operator to use a shield – shields were weapon types which were restricted to attackers. Her shield can shoot out electric shocks and will affect anyone who gets near. The attacker is Maverick, and he carries a blowtorch which burns holes on walls and floors that are big enough to aim through. Both Clash and Maverick will be coming with the game’s Grim Sky update.


Free DLC Now Available for Space Hulk Deathwing Enhanced Edition

Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition is giving away a free DLC for players of the game! The Infested Mines DLC is free for players on PC. It will come to the Playstation 4 later. The Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition Infested Mines DLC brings a new map that can be played in solo or in co-op, and also brings the total multiplayer map count to 8. The update also adds the ability to turn off the HUD, and also includes bug fixes and tweaks.


Additional Features for Divinity Original Sin 2 Enhanced Edition Detailed

Larian Studios has released a new trailer for Divinity Original Sin 2 Enhanced Edition, and it gives us a peek at some of the game’s features. One of those featured is how players can create their characters. The game gives them six unique origin plots they can choose from, crafting, conversation choices, as well as a newly-expanded dialogue. The Enhanced Edition also features the Arena Mode which has been revamped. Divinity Original Sin 2 Enhanced Edition launches on Xbox One and PS4 on August 31st.


Rainbow Six Siege Operators Lion, Castle, and Frost are Being Reworked

Ubisoft will be rewoking some of the less popular Operators of Rainbow Six Siege in an aim to encourage players to use them. During the Six Major in Paris, game designer Leroy Athanassoff said that right now they are focusing on Castle, Thatcher, Frost, Tachanka, while Glaz, and Lion are also on the operator reworks pipeline. Athanassoff did not go into detail as to what reworks they are planning for the mentioned Operators.
