Wandersong to Release on the PlayStation 4
Charming puzzle platformer game Wandersong is finally coming to the PlayStation 4. The Kickstarter-funded musical adventure features a bard who overcomes obstacles and solves puzzles through singing on his quest to gather pieces of what’s called the Earthsong. He plans to use the Earthsong to break the universe’s cycle of creation and destruction brought about by the goddess Eya. The game launched for PC and the Nintendo Switch last year and will hit the PS4 come January 22nd.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Will Have Its Protagonist Speak
FromSoftware has revealed that they’ll be going a different route when it comes to storytelling in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The Soulsborne games always featured a nameless protagonist with no backstory, but Sekiro will star a specific character complete with his own history and agenda. Players play as The Wolf, guardian of a Young Lord who, due to the protagonist’s failure, has been abducted. The game will center around The Wolf’s quest to save the Young Lord.
Degrees of Separation Launches February 14th
Degrees of Separation, the co-op puzzle platformer written by Chris Avellone, will be releasing on Steam, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch come February 14th. The game follows the adventures of Ember and Rime, both of which alter their surroundings based on their powers. Ember is always surrounded by warmth and light, while Rime dwells on the icy cold. This makes for a unique mechanic that transforms whichever part of the screen they are on and allows for interesting puzzles and platforming.
Genesis Alpha One Launches on the Epic Games Store This Month
Radiation Blue has just released a new trailer for their ambitious space sim, Genesis Alpha One, that delves into its roguelike mechanics. The game combines spaceship building and management with first-person shooting, and the trailer gives us a preview of what to expect from the latter. Genesis Alpha One was announced back in 2017 and will launch on the Epic Games Store, Xbox One and PS4 come January 29th. It’s a timed-exclusive on PC with Steam showing it’ll come to the platform a year after.
The Occupation Gets a Final Release Date
White Paper Games is delaying its political thriller, The Occupation, yet again. The game was first announced with a release date of October 9th, 2018, but got delayed to February 5th of this year for some much-needed polish. Now, the devs have announced that they’ll need to delay it by one more month to March 5th. The Occupation, once it finally comes out, will put players in the shoes of a journalist investigating the events surrounding an explosion that has left twenty-three people dead.
Galactic Civilization 3 Retribution Expansion Announced
Stardock Entertainment has announced an expansion for Galactic Civilizations 3 Retribution. Stardock CEO Brad Wardell expressed excitement to be continuing to expand the story and features of the game. He also added that the new features will increase the strategic depth of gameplay. The new features include Artifacts, Hypergates, Major Civilizations, Cargo ships, a New Technology Tree and a Retribution Campaign. Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution will drop in the first quarter of 2019 on Steam.
Assetto Corsa Competizione Update Adds New Car, and More
Assetto Corsa Competizione has received an Early Access Update. ACC racers can now access the new V8 car and the skill-demanding Belgian circuit. The update also features new exclusive Special Events in which you can challenge players around the world for a spot on the online leaderboards. Kunos Simulazioni says the final version of the game will include Multiplayer and Single Player options, Realistic Weather conditions, Accurate Circuits, and Advanced Graphics and Audio Effects.
Black Desert Online Battle Royale Live Now
On January 16, 2019 Pearl Abyss commenced Black Desert Online’s 50-player battle royale mode. The new Shadow Arena mode is still in development, but you can try out an early access version. 50 players are injected into an arena where they must scavenge for supplies to survive and become the last person standing to win. You start the round as a spirit then you may possess one of the classes. Currently, the Warrior, Sorceress, Berserker, Tamer, Valkyrie, Wizard, Witch, Dark Knight, and Mystic classes are available.
Katana ZERO Launches on PC and Consoles This March
Developer Askiisoft has announced that Katana ZERO is coming to PC and consoles in March of this year. The neo-noir, action-platformer is said to feature breakneck action and very responsive lethal combat. You are invited to slash and dash your enemies while utilizing your capacity to traverse the plains of time at will. Manipulate time to bridge the gaps in your past and make sense of your otherwise shrouded reality. Expect to witness a beautifully brutal acrobatic display when the game releases.
Project Winter Open Beta and Early Access Dates Announced
Other Ocean Interactive has labeled February 7, 2019 as the date Project Winter will launch in Early Access. Preceding the 7th, the developers will be hosting a one time open beta from February 1st to the 3rd. You can register for the open beta on the official Project Winter website. Become a part of the 8-person multiplayer game of Teamwork & Betrayal. You are a survivor who must work with a group of strangers, collect resources, and battle the elements. Prove that you have what it takes to survive.
Civilization 6: Gathering Storm Reveals Sweden as New Civilization
Firaxis Games has identified Sweden as the New Civilization to be added to their turn-based strategy game, Civilization 6: Gathering Storm. Players can expect a change of pace in Sweden as the developers expressed that it is best suited to cultural or diplomatic victories. This iteration comes with unique abilities and a new building providing tourism, culture, loyalty and plenty of great works and amazing people. Civilization 6: Gathering Storm is set for release on February 14, 2019.
Halo: Master Chief Collection’s Big Update Now Live
Halo: Master Chief Collection recently received another major update. Once players have installed the update and launched the game, they will notice that the Halo: MCC menu screen now has a winter theme and has been changed to be more reminiscent of the current game events and challenges. Once in-game players will see the new “modern aiming” option which once activated makes aim acceleration zones “smoothed” out. The update also came with many bug fixes and quality of life changes.
God Eater 3 Releases Multiplayer Trailer
Bandai Namco recently issued a multiplayer trailer for GOD EATER 3. The trailer illustrated some clips of the high-octane action and shots of playable characters present in the RPG. The video showed three lines of text that summarize what to expect and do in the game. The texts encouraged players to defeat the powerful Ash Aragami online using the heroes they have customized. Players may also assemble teams of up to 8 members, then go on assault missions. God Eater 3 is due to be released on February 8, 2019.
Power Rangers Fighting Game Announced
A Power Rangers fighting game is set to launch this year on PC and consoles! Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid comes from nWay, the maker of mobile fighting game Power Rangers Legacy Wars. The studio teamed up with Hasbro and Lionsgate in order to tap 25 years of history of the Power Rangers for Battle for the Grid. The game will be launching in April of this year for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with cross-platform play feature available, while it will come at a later date for PC.
Ronda Rousey is Mortal Kombat 11’s Sonya Blade!
The Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event has taken place with one revelation after another. One of the biggest revelations confirms Ronda Rousey’s role in the game. The UFC champion is the voice behind one of Mortal Kombat’s original fighters, Sonya Blade. As a general of the Earthrealm Special Forces, Blade fights using gadgets and military technologies. She’s also armed with shockwave gauntlets. Blade has appeared in previous Mortal Kombat games either as a cameo or a fighter. Mortal Kombat 11 launches April 23rd on PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
Bethesda Bans Fallout 76 Players Who Acquired Secret Dev Room Items
Bethesda is issuing temporary bans to Fallout 76 players who have accessed the secret developer room that’s full of unreleased items. Bethesda said the items were not intended to be released to the public, and can only be accessed by PC players using 3rd party applications. The company said they had to issue temporary bans to “ensure the integrity of these characters and accounts.” Affected players who want the bans removed should contact Bethesda’s support team.
PUBG Tops 2018’s Premium PC and Console Games List
SuperData has finally rounded up its Year in Review report for 2018, and in video games, PUBG is the top premium game with the most revenue. In terms of digital sales, PUBG has a total revenue of 1.028 million Dollars despite other battle royale games competing in dominating the genre. FIFA 18 comes second with 790 million Dollars in revenue. The much-anticipated and highly-acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 comes in 5th place with 516 million Dollars. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 also had an impressive revenue of 612 million Dollars, and is in 4th place.
Mortal Kombat 11 Beta Dates Confirmed
A beta for Mortal Kombat 11 has been confirmed and it will be starting on March 28th. However, there is no news as of yet up until when the beta will be running. The beta will only be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and only for those who pre-order the game. Pre-ordering the game will also give you an added incentive of being able to play as Shao Kahn in the game when it fully launches. Mortal Kombat 11 will be launching on April 23rd and is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Overwatch Lunar New Year Event Announced
Blizzard revealed the next seasonal event coming to Overwatch through a Tweet, saying, “Squeal with joy! Overwatch Lunar New Year returns January 24”. If you are not aware, it is the year of the pig, hence the “squeal with joy” intro. As with any other Overwatch seasonal events, we can expect some new cosmetics for our favorite characters as well as new in-game events. For right now, we are only given a tease about it. More details will be revealed for this leading to its launch date on January 24th.
New Mortal 11 Character Revealed
In Mortal Kombat’s big livestream event, NetherRealm gave fans of the franchise a closer look at the game, including some much-needed revelations. Another revelation during the event is the addition of a new character – Geras. He is described as the “powerful and loyal servant” of Kronika, also known as the Keeper of Time. Geras has the ability to conjure objects which he can use to slam his foes into. He also has the ability to manipulate time and freeze his enemies in place. He will be joining the rest of Mortal Kombat 11 characters on April 23rd.
New Days Gone Trailer Showcases the Farewell Wilderness
Bend Studios has shared a brand new trailer for their upcoming game Days Gone and we are given a glimpse of the state of Oregon and the Farewell Wilderness. The once peaceful area with its high desert and mountains are now infested with Freakers, wild animals, cultists, and marauders. You should watch your back ever so carefully as it looks like every road poses as a threat. Days Gone will launch on April 4 for the PlayStation 4. This comes with the Standard, Collector’s and Digital Deluxe Editions.
PUBG’s Vikendi Map Launches on Consoles Next Week
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ newest map called the Vikendi is finally stepping out of the test servers and into the live servers on consoles. This map has been available for PC since December of 2018. The Vikendi map launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be on January 22nd. The map offers a 6v6 km snow map, it has snow-covered streets giving players an easier time tracking other player footprints. Vikendi will also come with the new G36C rifle as well as a new vehicle which is the snowmobile.
