ConcernedApe Halts Development on New Game to Focus on Stardew Valley
Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley previously announced that he wants to devote his time to the new game that he teased last year. However, he cannot completely leave Stardew Valley because he keeps on getting new ideas for the game as it is full of potential plus the game’s community is amazing. So what he came up with is to put up a team that could help him in the Stardew Valley work like programming, fixing bugs, the administrative work, and the pixel art.
Blizzard Under Fire for Canceling Heroes of the Storm’s 2019 eSports Plans
Blizzard announced that they are discontinuing the Heroes of the Storm competitive league called the Heroes Global Championship. This announcement has infuriated the HotS pros as they have been training and practicing for months for the said event. Some of them even asked Blizzard if the event will continue for 2019 and was answered that “they are working on finalizing the details”. It is speculated that the cancellation is due to cost cutting by the new chief financial officer of Blizzard.Epic Shuts Down Website Leaking Fortnite Data
A lawyer representing Epic Games has sent a cease and desist order to FNBRLeaks, forcing the infamous dataminer and trusted Fortnite leaks source to shut down his social media accounts. These include his Twitter, Discord, YouTube, Instagram `and GitHub. The letter stated that the order was due to his leaks and promotion of game modification tools for the hugely popular shooter. In a final message, FNBRLeaks thanked all his supporters and followers during his 7-month stint.
Artifact Gets Chat System, New Tournaments, and Leaderboard in Latest Update
The Artifact 1.1 update is now live and it concentrates on the game’s social features. The most notable thing in the update is the chat feature offering full voiced dialogue via the dialogue wheel as well as custom messages. Non-friends can be blocked as well during a match. Other things included in the patch are new tournaments like the Pauper, two new decks added to The Call to Arms event and colourblind support. DiRT Rally 2.0 Features Revealed
Codemasters has just released a new trailer for Dirt Rally 2.0, giving players a glimpse of some of the changes coming in the sequel. First off, new cars are coming but those from the original will also be improved. The game’s handling system has been rebuilt and vehicle modelling has been improved. The way vehicles interact with surfaces has also been changed, with the changes felt the most during slow speed. Aerodynamics will also see improvements, while new weather effects will require players to take serious care during wet conditions.
Latest Resident Evil 2 Video Showcases the Birkins
The new Resident Evil 2 received five new 6-seconder short trailers and this time around it is all about the Birkin family. The Birkin family is actually one of the main sets of characters in the game aside from Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield. The series of videos have been released by Capcom Japan and we will get to see Sherry Birkin as well as her father William Birkin which had been infected. Resident Evil 2 will officially launch on January 25th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
A Fisherman’s Tale Launches Next Month
Vertigo Games and Innerspace VR have announced that their next VR game called A Fisheman’s Tale will be launching on January 22nd. With the release date announcement comes a new trailer as well. It’s a 4K 360-degree trailer, which should give those waiting for the virtual reality puzzle game a great peek at what it’s all about. In A Fisherman’s Tale, players will take on the role of Bob, who wanders off beyond his lighthouse to find that the outside world isn’t what it seems.
Fighting EX Layer Gets Three New DLC Characters
Arika has announced that three new DLC fighters will be joining Fighting Ex Layer early next year, two of which will be free while the third will be launched as paid DLC. Area and Sharon from Street Fighter EX were teased during this year’s E3, together with popular SNK character Terry Bogard, so it should be safe to assume they’re the three characters in Arika’s announcement. The first character will be released in March, with all three expected to be out by May.
Railway Empire’s Great Britain and Ireland DLC Out Now
Kalypso Media has launched a new DLC for their game Railway Empire. This new expansion allows players to build their empires in Great Britain and Ireland which is the birthplace of the very first steam engines. It includes the ‘Great Britain & Ireland’ map, which can be played in the Free Game and Sandbox modes, a new scenario, new music, 10 new historical engines which include the Rocket 0-2-2 and Firefly 0-2-0, new tradable goods like whiskey and cider plus 45 new cities for you to explore.
Hunt Showdown Gets New Mode, Challenges and More in New Update
A huge update just dropped for Hunt Showdown. Update 4.0 will add a new Quickplay game mode which features shorter matches and different gameplay. Quickplay will have ten solo players searching for and activating wellsprings of energy in a race against time. Challenges have also been added, introducing a variety of daily and weekly challenges that offer in-game rewards. A bunch of quality of life improvements related to gunplay have also been added, including faster and normalized animation timings.
Smoke and Sacrifice Release Date Announced
Solar Sail Games and Curve Digital has announced that they’ll be bringing their hand-painted, narrative-driven, open world RPG to the Xbox One and PS4 on January 15th. Smoke and Sacrifice follows the story of Sachi who sacrificed her son to the Sun Tree, a mysterious tree that provides the light her community needs to survive after the sun was lost. However, she soon discovers the tree hides a darker secret behind its benevolent glow. The game launched on PC back in May.
Project Stream Testers Get Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for Free
Google’s Project Stream is set to have a series of tests, and chosen testers will get a free copy of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Through Project Stream, testers will be able to play the game in the Google Chrome browser for as long as they want. Playing for an hour and more will reward players with a free copy of the game from Ubisioft which they can link to their Uplay accounts. The Project Stream version of the game also comes with 1,000 Helix Points. Players who want to take part must sign up before January 15th.
Artifact Gets First Major Update
The Dota 2 card game Artifact launched in November, and it has now received its first major update. Update 1.1 adds Open Tournaments that anyone can join – Valve will pair players up, so they won’t need to advertise in social networks, or chat players to join. The update also adds a Free-for-All tournament mode, a colorblind mode that makes cards more distinguishable, a Bot Gauntlet mode that lets players take on AI, and much more.
Metal Slug 5 Launches on Consoles
Metal Slug 5 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The game originally launched in 2003 for the arcades and was also launched on PlayStation 2 and Xbox via Playmore. The game is set to launch this time around modern consoles. Players are able to play in the rapid-fire stages using the new slugs like the Spider Slug, Slug Gunner, Car Slug and so much more. Get to rescue veterans, fight humongous bosses and collect weapons. Metal Slug 5 is now available in Xbox One and Switch worldwide.
Evo Japan 2019 Lineup Announced
The lineup for the Evo Japan 2019 has been announced and it includes Tekken 7, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, Soulcalibur 6, Street Fighter 5 Arcade Edition, The King of Fighters 15 and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. You may have noticed that two popular games are not on the list, which are Dragon Ball FighterZ and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. According to the business developer for Evo, they were not able to get approval from the publisher or owner of the games. Evo Japan will take place from February 15 to 17 in Fukuoka, Japan.
Red Dead 2 and Black ops 4 Neck-in-Neck in November Playstation Sales
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 were neck-in-neck in terms of sales in November. Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 dominated PlayStation Store’s sales in November, with Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in second. Both games are the top 2 games for both Europe and North America. Also on the list are FIFA 19, Battlefield 5, Fallout 76, and The Forest.
Black Ops 4 Custom Games Announced
Treyarch announced that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout custom games will be coming out next week. The custom games will allow players to play in their own private match. There will be a total of 12 players at launch but is expected to increase over time. There will be solos, duos or quads, having full customization support. This will be available as “online only” so that every custom game is up-to-date”. The custom game in Blackout will also support weapon camos which is a big thing for players.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is Most-Wishlisted Game on Steam
What’s in your Steam Wishlist? Event organizer Simon Carless shared through a tweet that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is currently on top of Steam’s Top Wishlists! Carless’ screenshot of the Steam Top wishlists page shows the most recent data, and not the top wishlisted games of all time, so this could change the game. The list also shows Resident Evil 2 on second, Metro Exodus on third, Devil May Cry 5 on fourth, and Total War: Three Kingdoms on fifth.
Cabybara’s Roguelike Below Out Now
Capybara’s new roguelike game called Below is now available after being in development for five years. The game offers procedurally generated labyrinths with interconnected passageways. There will be hidden areas as well as enemies to fight off. You will die a lot of times for sure, if that happens, you will then be booted back to the start to do it all over again. The early Steam user reviews for the game are mostly positive however some do find the game boring. Below is available for $22.50 or £18.
Verdun Update Brings New Map, Mode, and Weapons
World War I shooter Verdun has received a free update, and it adds a new map, a 64-player mode, new weapons, as well as a new squad of soldiers. The new mode is similar to the existing Frontlines mode which tasks players with capturing enemy trenches, but with more players. As for the new map, it is called St. Mihiel Salient, and it is located in France, near the German border. The new squad is called the Tirailleurs Senegalese, which were troops recruited from French West Africa and are fighting for France.

Pillars of Eternity 2’s Forgotten Sanctum is out now! The game’s final DLC adds a host of new features to the game, including ship respawning, new megabosses, and new subclasses. Forgotten Sanctum also includes major fixes and updates to Challenges, Quests, Text and Voice Over, Abilities, Sound Effects, Visual Effects, and much, much more. Battlefront 2’s 2019 Roadmap Revealed
EA revealed their new 2019 roadmap for Star Wars Battlefront 2. In January 2019, DICE is planning to add Count Dooku and the Coruscant Guard clone trooper appearances. By February we will be able to see Anakin Skywalker and the 501st Legion. This will also include some capital ship interiors for the Venator-Class Destroyer and Dreadnaught. The details for the roadmap are still a few but we are sure to know more soon. Star Wars Battlefront 2’s launch may not be great, but the devs are making up for it.
