First Changes to TTK in Battlefield 5 Rolls Out

DICE dropped an update that adjusts time to kill and time to death in Battlefield 5. DICE maintains that the changes are necessary to “ensure a more even gameplay experience” for all players. The developers say they know a section of the community is opposed to the changes so they have set up a new server called “Conquest Core”. On this new server players can use the new playlist and compare it with the other then provide constructive feedback.


Anthem VIP Demo Details Revealed

EA and Bioware revealed the details of the demo of their upcoming multiplayer RPG Anthem. You have to finish certain steps in order to join the first demo, but the second demo is free for all. The first demo, or the VIP demo, is launching on January 25-27, 2019. To join you must preorder Anthem or be subscribed to EA Access or Origin Access. A free exclusive item will be available when the game launches. The free demo arrives on February 1-3, and you would just need to download it to join.


Canada is Coming to Civilization 6

Civilization 6 is getting a new expansion next year and it is called Gathering Storm. This will also come with a new civilization which is Canada! Canada is led by Wilfrid Laurier whose ability is called “The Best West”. Also, the Unique Canadian ability is the “Four Aces of Peace” which means that Canada cannot declare surprise wars nor can they receive surprise wars as well. Wars can still be declared though but in a polite manner. All of these will be available by February 14, 2019.


Civ 5 Designer’s Next Game “At the Gates” Announced

Sid Merier’s Civilization 5 designer Jon Shafer has unveiled his upcoming game, Jon Shafer’s At the Gates, along with a release date. At the Gates is a strategy game that took the creator 7 years to make. It is set to be released on PC via Steam on January 23rd. At the Gates begins in Dark Ages Europe, and players will build and lead their own tribe. It also features survival and roguelike elements. At the Gates was originally scheduled for release in 2014 after a successful Kickstarter campaign.


Prey’s Typhon Hunter and Transtar VR Out Now

Arkane Studios has finally released a free new update for Prey which includes a new multiplayer mode, as well as a VR-only single-player game. The multiplayer Typhon Hunter mode tasks Morgan into hunting Mimics that can turn into inanimate objects like garbage bins and more within a set time limit. Another mode is the TranStar VR, which is a single-player mode playable in PSVR and PC and is an escape-room style campaign. It puts Morgan in the shoes of a TranStar employee, completing objectives and solving intricate puzzles in Talos I.


World War Z: Game Playable Classes Revealed

The playable classes of the World War Z game has been revealed! There will be six playable classes to choose from namely the Exterminator who uses Molotov cocktails, Fixer who restores ammo, Gunslinger who is kind of like a tank class, Hellraiser who is armed with C4s and other explosives, Medic who has a Stim Pistol that can heal teammates in range, and Slasher who is melee focused and has a taser. The World War Z game is set to launch by 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.


Sword Heading to Fortnite in Patch 7.01

Fortnite’s patch v7.01 is here and the Infinity Blade is a part of it. The sword will spawn once per match and it can be seen at the top of Polar Peak. Any player that is able to pick this up will have faster movements and more health. However, the wielder of the sword will not be able to use any other weapons plus the entire inventory will be dropped. This means that range-wise, you will be at a disadvantage. If you get killed while holding the sword, it can be picked up by another player.


Black Ops 4’s First Premium DLC Leaks

Some Call of Duty Black Ops 4 players in Australia were able to download and play what seems to be the game’s first premium DLC, Multiplayer Map Pack 1. Some players posted on YouTube and showed two multiplayer maps, Madagascar and Elevation. Some also got to access the new Dead of the Night zombies mode where actors Kiefer Sutherland and Charles Dance appear. Treyarch took notice and said that everything posted were part of a pre-release developer build.


Ashen Devs Still Fixing PC Multiplayer Issues

Ashen, the indie game that launched last week for PC as one of the flagship titles for the Epic Games Store, is having some problems with its multiplayer components. According to reports, the problem seems to be with the co-op system of the game where there are several people having a hard time joining. Xbox players said that they were able to find a workaround but the problem is still available for PC players. Developer A44 Games already acknowledged the issue and is working on a fix.


Ghost Recon Wildlands Special Operation 3 Launches

Ghost Recon Wildlands received a huge content drop called Special Operation 3. This update brings new PvP and PvE content, new cosmetic items, and a new mission called Silent Spade. Silent Spade is inspired by Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Special Operation 3 also adds a photo mode as well as a friend referral program which rewards successful players with free crates. The update is now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.


Rising Storm 2: Vietnam Celebrates the Holidays with a New Update

Rising Storm 2 has a special Christmas update. This was announced by Tripwire Interactive and it is called the Green Army Men Christmas Special update. A Christmas-themed map plus a seasonal helmet will be available for players. Also, the 64-player match will have you taking on the role of miniature toy soldiers trying to take control of the fortresses that are spread across a home that is fully decorated for the holiday season. This holiday update will run up until the first week of January.


PUBG and Fortnite Get Banned in China Along With Other Games

China implemented stern regulations for some of the most prominent video games on the market. After reviewing many titles, China’s Ethics Board labeled Fortnite and PUBG among the lot to be prohibited. The games failed to meet the censorship requirements on the grounds of having overly revealing female characters, inharmonious chatroom, and blood and gore. However, this is unconfirmed as the native source is in Chinese but later translated by a Reddit user and the games are still playable in China.

The Game Developers Conference has announced that Amy Hennig will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for over 30 years of sterling service as an exceptional writer and director for the gaming industry. She has flawlessly cemented her contribution in history as a digital artist, animator, and game designer. The decorated and inspirational icon will claim her award at the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony on March 20, 2019 at 6:30pm at the San Francisco Moscone Center.


Warframe’s Fortuna Expansion Launches to Consoles

Digital Extremes released its next big Warframe expansion, Fortuna. The patch introduces a new open-world landscape that grants you access to a beautifully crafted environment. Hitman 2 Unveils New Escalation Contract

It’s one busy month in Hitman 2! This December, players will get to take on new Contracts, Escalations, and the next Elusive Target in the game. First up is the new Featured Contract Occupational Hazards, which is already available in the game. Up next is the new Escalation Contract The Aelwin Augment coming December 13th. Come December 16th, players will be in for a limited-time Christmas-themed Holiday Surprise. The new Elusive Target follows on December 21st, and finally another Escalation follows December 27th.


Destiny 2 Brings Back The Dawning

Destiny’s annual Christmas event is back for 2018. In addition to being given a cookbook to complete with secret recipes, the event has tons of bounties for The Dawning as well. The event reintroduces Eva Levante, a character who was vital in inciting the traditions and celebrations to the Tower. Players are to also expect a lot of content surrounding cooking. The event will span from December 11 until the 1st of January followed by another Forge opening.


Epic to Release Free Cross-Platform Service for Fortnite

Epic Games announced that they will be releasing a new service which supports cross-platform play, and it is free for all developers and open to any engine, platforms, and stores! In Fortnite, for example, the game will run across all seven major platforms, and will require no logins on console. It will support multiple-platform login via Facebook, Google, Twitch, Nintendo, and more. Majority of these features will roll out by Q3 2019, while cross-platform login and more could go live by Q2 2019.


2019 Overwatch League Schedule Revealed

Blizzard has revealed more details on season two of the Overwatch League. The second season begins February 14th, and the league open with 20 different teams. Like before, the new season will unfold over four stages, and teams will play 28 matches in the regular season. Games will take place every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each week, with 4 matches happening each day. The full schedule is available at the Overwatch website.


Detroit: Become Human Sells Over Two Million Worldwide

Since its launch back in May, Detroit: Become Human has sold over 2 million copies on the PlayStation 4, Quantic Dream announced through a tweet. The studio also expressed its appreciation to players for their support in reaching this milestone in just five months. Additionally, the game is now also the fastest-selling game for the studio to date. Detroit: Become Human is the third Sony-exclusive game released by the studio, the previous one being Heavy Rain in 2010 followed by Beyond: Two Souls in 2013.


Final Fantasy 15’s Comrades Mode Goes Standalone

Final Fantasy 15’s Comrades multiplayer expansion is finally a standalone game. Comrades was previously released as part of the Final Fantasy 15 Season Pass on PS4 and Xbox One, while it can also be purchased on its own as an expansion. Being a standalone game, Comrades won’t be requiring a copy of Final Fantasy 15 on PS4 and Xbox One in order to run. This separate version adds new creatures and features that will also be available as free updates to those who already bought Comrades before it became a standalone game.


Minecraft Gets New Update, Adds Bamboo, Scaffolding, and More

Minecraft’s Bedrock update 1.8.0 is out now, and it comes with some useful changes. This update adds a new block which players can climb on. It also adds pandas and redesigned cats. Ocelots, on the other hand can no longer be tamed due to this update, but players can still gain their trust by feeding them. A new biome featuring bamboo is also introduced in the game where players will see pandas spawn. Also coming next year is the Village and Pillage update and the spin-off Minecraft: Dungeons.


PUBG Introduces Vikendi Survivor Pass

PUBG Corp is set to release the Vikendi snow map soon, and the company has announced a new themed pass for its players. The new pass, called Vikendi Survivor Pass, will be available for ten weeks, and it comes in free and premium versions. The paid, premium version costs 10 Dollars, and will give players exclusive access to claim premium rewards. Free rewards, on the other hand, are also available in the free version. The Vikendi Survivor Pass launches December 19th on PC, while console players will have to wait until January.
