AUGUST 13 PART 1

Shovel Knight Shovels His Way to Rivals of Aether

Shovel Knight is everywhere these days, and he’s adding another game appearance to his ever-growing list of cross-overs. This time the blue shovel-wielding knight will be coming to fighting game Rivals of Aether as one of its playable characters. His appearance in Rivals of Aether is his 14th playable appearance in a game. In terms of fighting games, this is his 4th time. Rivals of Aether is available on PC and Xbox One.


Doom Eternal May Get Mod Support, But Not at Launch

During the QuakeCon question and answer at the roundtable, mod support for Doom Eternal has been asked and it seems like it would happen in the future but it is not guaranteed. Director Mary Stratton said that “I would never make guarantees on even Doom Eternal [having mods] ” He further explained that they made some technical decisions before that stirred them in a different direction regarding mods and that they are now making technical decisions to get them going towards mods once again.


Grappling Hook and Parkour Added to Doom Eternal

This year’s QuakeCon revealed so much about its new Doom game, Doom Eternal. The game’s gameplay video revealed movement options that will be available in the game. The most notable of which are the grappling hook and parkour elements. The hook not only lets players swing from one point to another, it can also be used to blast enemies on the face.


Rage 2 Will Include Flying Vehicles

Rage 2 has an assortment of vehicles and one of them is actually flying! Game director Magnus Nedfors said that players of Rage 2 will get to own three types of vehicles one is a car, then a bike and the flying vehicle which is not like a jet or a plane but more like a ‘hoverbike’. Players will be able to evolve and customize their vehicles as they wish. Of course, you can still steal cars that you see around the wasteland which you are able to bring it home to your base and use again at a later time.


SnapMap Won’t Be Coming to Doom Eternal

SnapMap will not be making a comeback for Doom Eternal as announced by id Software’s Marty Stratton during QuakeCon at the question and answer roundtable. However, they are planning to have a campaign DLC available after the game’s launch. So, instead of the SnapMap where players are able to custom build a map in the game, the developers will take it upon themselves to create content that they know players would like as they had been requesting for some specific things since 2016.


Edge of Eternity to be Featured at Gamescom

The role-playing game Edge of Tomorrow is coming to this year’s Gamescom! During its showcase, players can expect to see new things, as developers Midgar Studio will be showcasing the latest version of the game. Journalists present during the event will get to try the game out, as a demo will be held in the event’s business area. Edge of Tomorrow will be available on Steam; its release date is yet to be announced.


QuakeCon 2019 Dates Revealed

Bethesda revealed the dates for next year’s QuakeCon during the QuakeCon 2018 keynote. Once again being held at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine Texas, QuakeCon 2019 will be on July 25 to 29. It will be free for general attendees and open to the public. Sneak peeks to Bethesda’s upcoming titles and announcements will be available. There will also be some workshops, exhibits, tournaments, presentations, different panels and so much more.


Bee Simulator Announced

If you think you’ve seen it all in video games, think again! Launching later this year on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 is another simulation game which centers around bees. Yes, you heard that right! The game is called Bee Simulator, and it lets you see the world through the eyes of a bee. Your mission? Protect the tree that holds your hive! The game also lets you compete in bee races, collect pollen, and explore the wide world of Central Park in New York.


XCOM 2 Collection Coming to Consoles Next Week

The console version of XCOM 2 Collection is coming to consoles! Already available on PC via Steam, XCOM 2 Collection includes the base game XCOM 2, four DLC packs, and the XCOM 2: War of the Chosen expansion. The four DLC packs are: Resistance Warrior Pack, Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen’s Last Gift. XCOM 2 Collection will be available starting August 14th in physical form in the US on Xbox One and Playstation 4.


Nintendo Switch Online Launches Next Month

The Nintendo Switch Online service is coming out by the second half of September, however, Nintendo did not give a specific date as of yet. This service is a paid subscription where in which players are able to back up files in a cloud. Also, online multiplayer games will be locked behind the subscription once it launches. Another benefit included is a collection of online-enabled NES games. The service will cost 3 dollars and 99 cents per month, or 19 dollars and 99 cents for one year.


V-Rally 4 Launch Date Announced

Bigben and Kylotonn Racing Games have revealed the release date for racing game V-Rally 4. The game will first launch for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on September 7th in the UK, and its PC release will follow on September 25th. The game will also come to the Nintendo Switch in a still undisclosed release date. The V-Rally series is quite big during the 90’s, so this year’s installment is quite special as fans of the game have been waiting for it.

Fallout 76 Has Microtransactions, But Purely Cosmetic

Fallout 76 brings back the Perks system, and players can acquire Perks thorugh Perk Cards. If you’re wondering of you could get this with real money, Bethesda confirmed during Quake Con that Perk Cards can only be acquired through gameplay – players earn them solely by leveling up. Bethesda announced as well that the game will have microtransactions, however, the store is only limited to cosmetic items. You can buy these items with real money. Fallout 76 will release November 14th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.


Dark Souls 3 Mod Lets You Play as a Boss

Thanks to modder group Datehacks, players are able to play as any of the bosses in the game Dark Souls 3. The mod is called “Forces of Annihilation” and players can choose from any of the bosses or enemies complete with their HP and weapon anywhere across the map. The mod sounds fun but it is useless to use it online though. When used online you will get to see everything happening but the other player will only see the normal game. No information yet was given in regards to the release date of the mod.


Battlefield 5’s Next Alpha Test Still Only Available for PC

EA DICE has announced a second run of the Battlefield 5 alpha.It is scheduled to begin August 14th, however, it will be available for PC players only. EA said in a blog post that they want players in the second alpha to focus on matchmaking and test out the squad-joining function. In the blog post, EA also added that although console players are not part of the second alpha, they also want to hear their thoughts by watching gameplay videos and streams from players who are playing in the alpha.


K1nzell and Mitr0 Named as Winners of EU Fortnite Summer Skirmish Duo Tournament

The European leg of the Fortnite Summer Skirmish’s Week 5 tournament has ended and K1nzell and Dmitri “Mitr0” Van de Vrie from Team Atlantis got the top spot, the top prize being $75,000. The second runner-up won $60,000 — Kejser and Octagon Severin — and the third place goes to Xypher TesquoTTV and Xypher Snafuu for $50,000. The Summer Skirmish of Fortnite is an 8-week series of competitions with a total of $8 million prize money. The competitors and format changes on a weekly basis.


Ni No Kuni 2 Gets New Quests in Free DLC

Ni No Kuni 2 is getting a new DLC, and it will bring in new quests to the game. The Adventure Pack, as the DLC is called, will expand the Faraway Forest. It will also bring a new post-campaign quest for those who finished the story but want to do more in the game. Additionally, the Adventure Pack will introduce two new powerful bosses: a dragon named Blackhart the Winnower and the blue-skinned Mischievous Mistress of Vast Disasters named Zeta. Developer Level-5 will release more details on this DLC soon.


Fallout 76 Will Deal With Trolls In-game

When Bethesda annoucned that Fallout 76 is an online game, thoughts of trolls did come across fan’s minds. However, players must not fret because Bethesda made trolls a part of the game. Players who kill “unwilling victims” will have bounties set on their heads. What’s great about this is that it will come out of the troll’s total in-game balance. It will also be easy to spot them as they will be represented as a red star on the map. This will give you the chance to avoid them or take them down.


Players to Get Quests via Holotapes and Notes in Fallout 76

Bethesda has revealed that Fallout 76 won’t have NPCs, and players are wondering how they will get their quests. Bethesda’s Senior Vice-President of Global Marketing Pete Hines revealed that players will get their quests via robots and other things players can interact with. Hines added that players can piece together information using holotapes, notes, and other interactive elements.


Bungie to Reveal Destiny 2’s Loot Box Probabilities

Bungie plans to reveal Destiny 2’s loot box reward probabilities. Found in the weekly update of Bungie, developers say that the beginning of season four and the launch of the expansion Forsaken will come with a Bright Engram rewards probabilities on Bungie.net. The Bright Engram rewards will include some aesthetic items like Ghosts, weaspon skins, sparrows, spaceships, emotes and many more. This could be accessed through the Eververse Trading Company which is an in-game shop in the Tower.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Lets Players Mix-and -Match Over 30 Abilities

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has a new combat system. Just like in Origins, the fights are also full of movement and are lively, there are abilities, as well as light and heavy attacks. The only difference is that the Spartan mercenaries in Odyssey don’t use shields. Players will be able to unlock abilities for both the melee and ranged weapons. All in all there are about 30 plus abilities that players are able to unlock and upgrade. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey releases on October 5 for both PC and consoles.


Players Can Change Their Fallout 76 Character Any Time

Fallout 76 will allow players to customize their character at any point in the game. Players will be able to access the character creator at any time during the game and redefine their basic features like hair, sex, and skin color. The game is also equipped with a photo mode which lets players take photos of themselves and their environment. It comes complete with poses, photo filters, and expressions, among others.


Bandai Namco Teases New Horror Game

An interesting teaser has been launched by Bandai Namco and it is in a form of a creepy website. The site just shared a footage of a recording with a play button as well as a date 08.30.2018. The footage is also labeled as “domas-SCENE01”. For now, nothing happens when the play button is hit, most possibly it will work on the date stated on the footage which is on August 30th. According to Gematsu, the site is called “Summer Horror Project” and words like “zombie” and “horror” are a part of its meta keywords.
