Steam Won’t Be Supporting Windows XP or Vista Starting Next Year

Starting January 1st next year, Steam won’t be supporting Windows XP and Vista, Valve has announced through a post. This means the Steam client won’t be running on PCs that run on the said Windows versions. Valve says that the newest Steam features rely on Google Chrome’s embedded version which no longer runs on the mentioned Windows versions. Additionally, future version of Steam would require Windows features and security updates from Windows 7 and up.

Ubisoft Says They’re Halting Work on Steep’s Switch Port

Ubisoft’s Steep won’t be coming to the Nintendo Switch. A user on Twitter asked a question addressed to the game’s Twitter handle. The user specifically asked for news on the game’s Switch version. The response was they are wholly dedicated to supporting the live game, and they made the decision to stop the game’s development on the Switch platform so they could focus on bringing new live content and challenges. They also have more exciting news to share soon, the tweet says.

New Online Features Added to Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV has received a brand new patch, and although it does not include the much-awaited extended modding tools, it does add new online features to the game as well as some bug fixes. The patch is 2GB in size, and one of the new features included is changing Noctis’ appearance by speaking to Avatara behind Takka’s Pit Stop among other locations. The patch adds the new Online Menu along with Notifications, User Photo, Avatara, and Play Records. These and more are available now.

Battlerite Royale Standalone Announced

Stunlock Studios, the company behind arena brawler Battlerite, has announced Battlerite Royale, a standalone battle royale game. It will be available as an Early Access title on Steam this September. In Battlerite Royale, players will skydive from the back of a dragon and land on Talon Island. There are several Champions to choose from, and each one of them has their own unique fighting style. The game also features fast-paced battles set in visually stunning fantasy landscapes.

Doom Slayer Chronicles Mod to Release This Fall

A new mod has been announced for DOOM. Launching this Fall is the new mod Doom Slayer Chronicles from modder bifurcator_x. This mod is the complete conversion of DOOM 2 and GZDoom. This new mod is designed using the latest technology, with hardware shaders, PBR texture, dynamic lighting, full-screen post-processing, and high-resolution textures. All of the mod’s features will be based on the new ones from GZDoom.

Insurgency Sandstorm PC Release Date, Beta Announced

The intense team-based action video game Insurgency Sandstorm finally has a PC release date which is on September 18th. Iron Harvest Releases Alpha for Backers

Iron Harvest is a real-time strategy game that is set in the 1920s. This is a few years after the great war and there are some underground forces who are working to destabilize Europe in order to take control of the world. Backers of the game get to play in the “First LookAlpha” demo that features two game modes as well as 15 playable units. There will be a second Alpha demo that focuses on multiplayer and will be available by December. The game is set to release by early next year.

Path of Exile’s Delve Expansion Unveils New Infinite Dungeon

Path of Exiles received one of its largest expansions called Delve. This expansion introduces an unending dungeon known as the Azurite Mine. This ever-growing dungeon contains rare minerals, as well as treasures from lost ages. It is also home to the Azurite mineral which can be traded to the Merchant above ground for new upgrades that will help you as you traverse the mines. The Delve expansion will be available starting August 31st on PC and September 3rd on Xbox One.

Metal Slug 4 Returns

Crowd favorite Metal Slug 4 is making a comeback and is available for PlayStation 4 in Japan, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, worldwide. The game was originally launched in arcades in 2002. The comeback of this classic brings about some new features to the game like the ability to transform into monkeys that will make your character more agile. Players are also able to dual-wield the Heavy Machine-Gun and new Slugs are also available like the Metal Crow, The Crawler, and The Bradley.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Lets Players Turn Off Glowing Hints

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has difficulty settings that will allow you to adjust difficulty for puzzles, combat, and traversal. In puzzles, Lara gets hints as to what she needs to do. Her Survival Instinct will show her objects that glow, which means she needs to interact with them in order to proceed with solving the puzzle. Players who want a more immersive gameplay can choose to turn this option off any time. She can choose between Easy, Normal, and Hard settings.

New Sandbox Game Deiland Out Now

Deiland, the sandbox RPG game from 101XP that released for the PlayStation 4 this year, is now available for PC. The game will let you take on the role of a young prince named Arco. He lands on the little planet, Deiland which he becomes the guardian thereof. He will care for the planet as well as protect it from threats. If you are familiar with the book The Little Prince, Deiland will remind you of it. The game is charming with over 100 different quests, and different characters to interact with.


Free-to-Play Car Combat Game Switchblade Coming to PC and PS4

Lucid Games, the developers of Geometry Wars 3, is developing a free-to-play, car combat, MOBA shooter called Switchblade. This is one car combat that may seem like a left-field concept, however once you try it you will surely like it, get hooked even. Choose your class-type from scouts, fighters, tanks, healers or artillery. A Switchblade beta is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Steam. The official release of the game has not been announced as of yet, however, it was said that it is coming soon.

Black Ops 4’s Second Beta Now Includes New Multiplayer Mode Heist

Black Ops 4’s beta is currently under way, and in case you didn’t know, this weekend’s beta will include the all-new multiplayer mode Heist. This mode puts two teams on a mission to locate a single bag of money and then transport it to an extraction point. The teams are made up of 5 players each. In Heist, players only have one life, and health and ammo are also limited. All players start with a pistol, then use the money they rake in to buy more powerful weapons, gear, and perks. The Black Ops 4 beta runs until Monday, August 13th.

Lara Croft Can Sport Classic Tomb Raider Outfits

Square Enix confirmed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will have some classic outfits from the old Tomb Raider games. There are three skins that were confirmed, the first one is the classic Tomb Raider II look that includes a teal tank top, brown shorts, and her gun holsters, also from Tomb Raider II is Lara’s Bomber jacket look. The other skin is from the Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness where she sports a black tank and shorts. Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches on September 14 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Avalanche Studios Primarily Working on Rage 2

During QuakeCon 2018, Avalanche Studios’ director Magnus Nedfors said that they are the primary developers for the game Rage 2 but they are still working in close collaboration with id Software to make sure that the game will still have that id feel to it. It is Avalanche who has written the code for the game as well as made the artwork and all that, however, when it comes to the shooting as well as the style of combat, it is unmistakenly that of id. Rage 2 is expected to officially launch by Spring of 2019.

Shenmue 1 and 2 Gets New Characters Trailer

A new trailer for the upcoming remaster of Shenmue 1 and 2 has been revealed. The trailer showcases the games’ characters: the protagonist Ryo Hazuki, heroine Shenhua, villain Lan Di, and the gang leader Wuying Ren, among other characters. The trailer also shows some action, and a few cutscenes. Shenmue 1 and 2 remastered will be available starting August 21st on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Let It Die is Coming to PC

The previously PlayStation-4-exclusive game Let It Die is getting a PC release. The hack-and-slash game launched back in December 2016 which got over 4 million downloads. The announcement was made via Twitter by GunhHo Online Entertainment. No other details were given about the game, whether it would be carrying over progress from the PlayStation 4 to PC, but the team did say though that more information will be given during PAX West. Let It Die will be available via Steam this fall.

The Elder Scrolls Online Wolf-themed DLC Out August 13th

The Elder Scrolls Online is getting a new DLC. Announced during this year’s QuakeCon is the Wolfhunter expansion which lets players explore two brand-new dungeons that are full of werewolves. These dungeons contain powerful new gear and collectibles which players can loot. Beware, though, as these dungeons are described as “the stronghold of Moon Hunter Keep” as well as “the Great Hunt in March of Sacrifices.” The Wolfhunter DLC launches August 13th on PC, and on August 28th for Xbox One and PS4.

Overwatch Reveals Expensive All-Star Weekend Skins

Two new Overwatch skins are made available by Blizzard for the Overwatch League All-Star Weekend. The skins are for Tracer and Genji. Tracer is representing the Atlantic division and Genji for the Pacific Team. The skins can be purchased using League Tokens and each skin costs about 300 tokens. To give you an idea on how much that would be in Dollars, 100 tokens is 5 Dollars and 200 tokens is 10 Dollars. The All-Star Weekend will start on August 25th but the skins will be available from August 17 to 27.

Quake Champions Now Permanently Free-to-Play

Good news! Bethesda has announced that Quake Champions is now free-to-play forever! The game is in Early Access on Steam, and Bethesda announced back in June that the game will be free to play for a limited time. It was extended until June 25th of this year. Although Quake Champions is free-to-play now, it wont include its full roster of champions – you would have to purchase the Champions Pack in order to unlock them.

Rage 2 Reveals Gameplay Details

During the QuakeCon 2018 keynote, some Rage 2 gameplay details have been shared by id Software and Avalanche Studios. The boomerang-like projectile called the wingstick is making a return but in an upgraded version. An Overdrive meter is available when filled up, and can unleash powerful abilities. Two factions were also shown: the Goon Squad and the Immortal Shrouded. Convoy takedowns have also been featured. Rage 2 is expected to launch by Spring 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Doom Eternal’s Competitive Multiplayer Will Be Different From Doom

A new multiplayer mode is coming to Doom Eternal, id Software’s Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin revealed during QuakeCon. The multiplayer mode is called Invasions, and it lets players invade another player’s single-player campaign as a demon. They will then work together as hunting buddies as they give Doom Slayer “a true taste of hell.” id Software added that Eternal will include a more traditional competitive multiplayer that’s “very Doom,” although details on this are not available yet.
