Is the Elden Ring Movie Done Filming?

The live-action adaptation of Elden Ring has officially concluded its extensive filming schedule. Prop artist Sean Schofield confirmed the wrap via a now-deleted Instagram post.

The post showcased a thank-you note from director Alex Garland and the A24 production team alongside exclusive crew gifts. Schofield described the production as a dream job, noting the extensive effort required to bring the Lands Between to life.

The deleted post featured an Elden Ring-branded backpack and a specialized clapboard keychain. The adaptation now enters a lengthy post-production phase.

Given the heavy reliance on complex CGI required to accurately depict Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin’s universe, the special effects teams have well over a year to complete their work.

A $100 Million Vision of the Lands Between

A24 and Bandai Namco are sparing no expense in adapting the critically acclaimed RPG. They are dedicating a reported $100 million budget to the highly anticipated project. Director Alex Garland, known for Ex Machina and Civil War, is leading the production.

Garland, a documented fan who has completed the game multiple times, even penned a 160-page spec script. He used this draft to secure the rights directly from FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki.

The cast features high-profile talent including Nick Offerman, Havana Rose Liu, Jonathan Pryce, Peter Serafinowicz, and Cailee Spaeny. Set photos leaked in April shared also by IGN, revealed Emma Laird portraying Queen Marika, alongside characters like the Dung Eater and Sorcerer Rogier.

These early leaks strongly indicate the film will serve as a prequel to the primary game. By exploring the era before The Shattering, the narrative is expected to showcase prominent locations like the Royal Capital of Leyndell and Stormveil Castle in their original states.

What Does the FromSoftware Teaser Mean for the Game?

While the movie enters post-production, FromSoftware is subtly hinting at the franchise’s immediate gaming future. A recent cryptic social media video featuring the Siofra River has players expecting a new game update.

While some fans speculated about a second major expansion, it is expected to include minor updates, such as new cosmetic skins for the player’s mount, Torrent. Despite the massive success of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, FromSoftware appears focused on optimizing the existing experience.
