The Lord of Terror has conquered Sanctuary, eliminating all safe towns and forcing players to travel with a caravan of followers.

Blizzard also revealed three playable classes for the sequel. The Demon Hunter and Monk return to the roster, while the Plague Knight makes its franchise debut. Game director Brent Gibson noted that future seasons will explore the 100-year timeline leading into the sequel. The current game also receives a major update shortly. The Amazon class arrives in the first half of 2027, featuring four gameplay archetypes and introducing the javelin weapon type.
