Blazblue: Entropy Effect X: New Game or Simple Port? Everything We Know

While the Arc System Works license still doesn’t seem to want to return in a canonical episode, with Blazblue Entropy: Entropy Effect X, console players will have a spin-off to sink their teeth into starting February 12, 2026.

Still, faced with a rather new trailer, but also a squarely summary press release, doubt remains for the moment. So, are we dealing with a port or a new game?

Turning a fighting game into a rogue-lite, the miracle recipe?

A quick reminder of the facts: Blazblue: Entropy Effect was a commissioned game developed by the 91Act studio, which took the flagship characters from the fighting game and put them in a rogue-lite openly inspired by Dead Cells. Let’s not lie, we’ve seen less appealing models.

Ultimately, the game was released on PC, first in early access in 2023, then following the arrival of its 1.0 version on January 31, 2024, we could even find it on mobiles starting in the summer of 2025

The thing is, between its big fights against bosses that would make PETA shudder and its avatar progression system extremely faithful to their original playstyle, Entropy Effect felt like a love letter to the world of the Azure Grimoire. In short, knowing that the orphans of Ragna the Bloodedge will finally be able to find him on Switch, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5 is necessarily a bit comforting.

Enhanced port or a real new version?

So what’s new in Blazblue: Entropy Effect X? Well, according to the trailer, at least a new mode selection menu, which is sure to raise our suspicions. But also, a story part that looks much more advanced than in the base game. Whether this will be a real new game, or a simple improved version, the question remains open.

What is certain is that we can already glimpse Rachel Alucard and Hazama, who are only available as DLC on PC, which still suggests that at a minimum, console players will have access to them by default. A detail that also seems confirmed by the bonuses of the Deluxe edition mentioning 14 characters. That is the totality of the fighters on PC (omitting the Prisoner from Dead Cells).

The promise to go even further

Suffice to say that in any case, it’s a good big chunk you’ll have to sink your teeth into. Especially since its numerous updates which have made the game more complete, more balanced, but which have also added very solid game modes, notably local co-op. And judging by the words used by the creators, they don’t plan to stop there.

Well, but will this additional content for Blazblue: Entropy Effect X be substantial? And above all, will it end up landing elsewhere? Impossible to say at the moment, as the Chinese developers at 91Act remain rather vague for now. What we can affirm, however, is that two packages will be available for sale. First the game alone, but also a Deluxe edition whose content is detailed right here:

  • a copy of the game
  • the additional colors [The Other Side] for 14 characters as well as for any additional hero who might be added later
  • the additional colors [X-File] for 14 characters but not for additional heroes who might be added later
  • The complete soundtrack of the game (91 tracks in total)
  • 4 chibi avatars
