Based on Klei Entertainment’s hit survival video game Don’t Starve, Don’t Starve: The Board Game is being developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged. The publisher originally asked for just $50,000, but fans have now pledged more than $3.6 million, with days still left in the Kickstarter campaign.

This incredible momentum has shocked even the creators themselves. The board game is currently scheduled for release in March 2027. The community’s enthusiasm highlights how passionate the Don’t Starve fanbase remains, over a decade after the game’s original release in 2013.

 

A Flood of Extra Content

The runaway success of the campaign has unlocked a wealth of bonus content, enhancing the co-op survival experience on the tabletop. Among the newly unlocked additions are wormhole tokens, which bring unpredictable movement mechanics to the game, and starter cards that provide early advantages to each player.

At the campaign’s final major milestone—around $4 million—backers will unlock content focused on Wurt, a beloved character from the Don’t Starve universe. The bundle includes a miniature figure, a character board, and several ability cards. As teh funding already surpassed the mark, contributors will also receive a digital Wurt skin usable in Don’t Starve Together, the game’s popular multiplayer expansion.

 

From Digital Survival to Tabletop Strategy

In the original Don’t Starve, players control Wilson, a scientist stranded in a mysterious, hostile world known as The Constant. To survive, players must manage hunger, sanity, and health, all while avoiding the terrifying dangers of the night—especially the lurking menace known as Charlie. Since its 2013 debut, Don’t Starve has sold over 5 million copies on Steam, spawning expansions like Reign of Giants and the coop experience with Don’t Starve Together.
