What We Know About Steam Frame: Fremont or Deckard?
This is news that is certainly very intriguing and much discussed by fans of Valve’s hardware solutions. And it seems to be somehow connected to the leaks from a few weeks ago regarding the mysterious Valve Fremont. A test appeared on the Geekbench database , shared by SadlyItsDadley on Twitter, with the following hardware:
- CPU: AMD Custom CPU 1772 based on Hawk Point 2 (Zen 4) with 6 cores and 12 threads. With integrated RDNA 3 GPU (not available in this build)
- Memory and GPU: With only 8GB of DDR5 5600MT/s RAM and an RX 7600 8GB
Notably with the Windows 11 operating system rather than SteamOS. But this seems to be a simulation test, as confirmed by the use of a dedicated graphics card also based on RDNA 3 as well as only 8GB of RAM. Interesting hardware that would point to a Home Console in development by Valve.
But according to the latest details, Steam Frame would be nothing other than the rumored Deckard. This time with details from some dataminers who found traces of code in the recent SteamVR update. Where the Overlays have been renamed as Frame. Indicating a new Arm-based VR Headset on SteamOS with compatibility for PC VR games and Android.

In Conclusion
So, the mysterious Steam Frame seems to be a new VR hardware, which looks like it could be the successor to the Index on the headset side. Equipped with an ARM-based processor capable of running some lighter titles on its own and with the help of a PC for more demanding games. And maybe the return of the rumored Half-Life X.
But this also means that Valve is working simultaneously on two major projects. With Deckard as Steam Frame and Fremont as a new home console solution, being the successor to the Steam Machine. With more mature hardware and software, as well as a more suitable market. So what do you guys think? Let us know in the comments!
