Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is coming to Steam and GOG on 14 August 2025!

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is the remastered edition of the classic RTS from Relic Entertainment. First released in September 2004, the game received 3 Expansions: Winter Assault in 2005, Dark Crusade in 2006, and Soulstorm in 2008.

As well as sequels with Dawn of War II in 2009 and III in 2017. A series of real-time strategy games set in the WH40K universe, it was a huge success, with the series selling over 7 million copies. Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition – Release Date Confirmed

Following the announcement of the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War on 22 May 2025, the Relic Entertainment team finally unveils the launch date. Officially announcing on 11 July 2025 that Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War – DE will arrive on 14 August 2025 on Steam and GOG.

An announcement that the team accompanies with the famous Intro Trailer remastered in 4K. Bringing the Definitive Edition of Relic’s classic RTS in the Warhammer 40K universe. With a complete package that includes all expansions and with support for modern systems, as well as visual enhancements.

 

Dawn of War: What the Definitive Edition Offers

Along with the restored 4K trailer of Dawn of War, the Relic team gives us some information about the title. With a Definitive Edition that, like the Anniversary Edition, offers a single package including the Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm expansions. Among the new features they offer:

  • Graphical Improvement: With improved textures and a visual upgrade to the lighting. Giving it a more realistic touch but without affecting the classic charm of the game.
  • Resolution: Supporting resolutions up to 4K and widescreen with HUD and layout optimizations.
  • Modern System Support: With support for 64-bit systems, also allowing compatibility with mods thanks to the already integrated Mod Manager.

Not to mention various fixes for the main bugs of the legacy version. Also including improved pathfinding for units and the addition of Traditional Chinese to the language text support. With more details and showcases coming soon.

Dawn of War Definitive Edition therefore celebrates the great classic RTS of WH40K. Offering an improved version of the Anniversary Edition released in 2024 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary. Bringing mainly visual improvements with a touch-up on textures and lighting.
