PEAK: Steam’s New Co‑Op Climbing Game Nails 1 M Sales in Under a Week

Born from a Game Jam project, PEAK has finally launched on Steam with a co-op climbing game that reached the milestone of 1 million copies sold in less than a week. Let’s find out more about it!

PEAK is a co-op climbing game with physics developed by the Landcrab team. A combined development team made up of Aggro Crab and Landfall. The first is particularly known for the soul-like Another Crab’s Treasure. While Landfall is a Swedish development team known for Clustertruck and the parody series Totally Accurate.

A game born from a Game Jam in February 2025, with the team deciding to expand it with a teaser in April. Announcing the imminent launch on June 16, 2025. PEAK: An incredible co-op success with 1 million copies sold

With the official launch on June 16, 2025, PEAK quickly captivated numerous players on Steam. A game that almost came out of nowhere, as a collaboration between the indie teams of Aggro Crab and Landfall. Selling over 100,000 copies within just 24 hours.

Reaching in just one week an impressive 1 million copies sold. Ranking 4th for the week as a Top Seller on Steam. Offering a co-op game where players, in the role of scouts, must collaborate to reach the summit of a mysterious island. A success that has surprised even the developers themselves.

 

PEAK: Why is the game such a success?

What stands out is how the game jumped almost out of nowhere without any promotion. A success that in many ways reminds of the success of Phasmophobia and Lethal Company. With a combination consisting of an affordable price, a co-op experience, originality, unexpected events, and high replayability, ideal for streaming on Twitch. Offering overall:

  • Climbing: As scouts, we must explore a mysterious island and reach the top of the mountain. You can play co-op with up to 4 players, collaborating and avoiding dangers across 4 different Biomes.
  • Survival: We will also have a survival system dealing with hunger and thirst. But also injuries that will lower our stamina.
  • Replayability: Every 24 hours, the map will change, offering a new layout. This allows players to try the new challenge or replay the climb of any island.

An unexpected attention and success for the team. Receiving numerous positive feedback but also many bug reports, with the team releasing the 1.4a and 1.5.a patches. These brought various bug fixes and crash fixes, including AMD hardware crashes caused unexpectedly by grass, which the team temporarily removed. Also, additions like Lobby Mode for matches, and the ability to Give Up if we faint during the climb.

PEAK has been an unexpected success for many, with a colorful and fun co-op climbing game. Offering an extremely affordable price and good replayability, but above all an original co-op experience full of surprises.
