Splitgate 2 returns in Dec 2025 after a shaky May launch and beta rollback. Servers go offline Dec 4 as 1047 Games tries again.

Splitgate 2 Relaunch Date  

1047 Games is looking to hit reset this year as they gear up to relaunch Splitgate 2 in December. The game was originally expected to return in early 2026, so the earlier window caught a lot of people by surprise which didn’t exactly help the current mood of worry and skepticism surrounding both the studio and the project.

 

Splitgate 2 Relaunching in December 2025

Splitgate 2 released in May 2025 but was pulled and returned to beta testing just 2 months after. While the biggest factor was the state of the game itself, the launch was filled with a lot of controversy including a Make FPS Great Again Maga-style hat, a $145 cosmetic bundle, and just a fireworks of marketing stunts that probably overhyped the game. Oh and then there were layoffs too.

It was a disaster of a launch but at least the team recognized it wasn’t ready and pulled it back instead of letting it float and constantly disappoint players.

But now, it looks like the team is ready for Splitgate 2 to split the gates open again. 1047 Games officially announced on X that the beta servers will go offline on December 4th in preparation for the relaunch in the same month.

   

The reaction has been cautious at best. Some players believe the accelerated relaunch is investor-driven but CEO Ian Proulx has denied that claim on Reddit. He said the decision came from the team and that they’re happy with the game’s current state. Plus, he defended the timing as December makes sense because holiday downtime typically boosts player numbers.

Since the timing is so close to The Game Awards, people are also speculating that there might be a shadowdrop and/or an appearance from Proulx in the event. The latter, he outright confirmed he won’t be doing. Come to think of it, since the last time, maybe it is better to skip that part, agreed.

It’s set to be another interesting ride for Splitgate 2. Yes, the holidays typically bring a spike in playtime but the game will be launching into a crowded field. It’s technically going up against Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders, and COD: Black Ops 7, all of which have just been released and are currently pulling huge player numbers.
