SONY TO RELEASE MORE PC AND MOBILE GAMES
In their latest presentation, Sony has revealed plans to release 50% of its video games on PC and mobile by 2025.
In the presentation, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan said that Sony has a chance to be “pretty much everywhere” when it comes to gaming.
Ryan continued to say that investing in PC and mobile has the potential to see “significant growth in the number of people who play our games.”
Sony’s plans reflect recent success in the PC market that saw PlayStation games like Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War triple platform sales for the company to $300 million.
Recent months have also seen Sony hire former Apple Arcade content boss Nicola Sebastiani to run their mobile division.
Sony also launched a PC label and acquired a PC port developer as they look to push more first-party games to PC.
On the downside, Sony seems to be moving away from the PS4 entirely, as it appears they will no longer develop first-party games for the PlayStation 4 past 2025.
