Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (SRC) is the new spin-off racing game from Sonic Team and SEGA. Officially announced in late December 2024, developed in collaboration with the team behind the famous Initial D. Bringing an ambitious version of kart-style racing with Sonic and Co. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – New Characters Revealed from the DLC
Following the launch date announcement at the Summer Game Fest 2025, the SEGA team brings new info about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Revealing on June 22, 2025 new details about the Guest Characters arriving with the DLC. Specifically, we got the reveal of SpongeBob SquarePants and his buddy Patrick Star.
Reveal accompanied by the Official Trailer that takes us to the iconic Bikini Bottom. With a track based on iconic locations like Krusty Krab and JellyFish Fields. Where we’ll also have the Patty Wagon themed after the Krabby Patty and cameos from Squidward and Mecha-Plankton. Wrapping up with the reveal of TMNT and Avatar Legends as the next guest franchises to be shown soon.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds: What the New Racing Game Offers
Confirming Minecraft and SpongeBob as the first two guest franchises, with TMNT and Avatar from Nickelodeon also coming as part of the Season Pass DLC. With Pack 5 and 6 still to be revealed. SRC is shaping up to be an ambitious new chapter for the Sonic racing spin-off series. Offering:
- Race through the Sonic and SEGA universe: With 24 tracks across 15 Crossworlds. Travel Rings allowing you to enter different locations, changing the course of the race with 23 power-ups.
- Characters and Customization: 23 Sonic characters and numerous guest racers. With 45 vehicles available and 70 customization accessories.
- Various Game Modes: With classic game modes like Grand Prix and Time Trials, as well as Race Park. You can play locally with friends or challenge up to 12 players in the World Match with Cross-Platform play.
SRC appears to offer improvements across various aspects compared to previous titles. Bringing a roster of characters with over 50 racers, including DLC. With many guest characters not just from SEGA franchises but also from other IPs like Nickelodeon and Minecraft. With more characters from other series coming soon.
