What We Know About the Patch So Far

Silent Hill 2 Remake launched in October last year, but it has since been plagued with various performance and graphical issues. Developer Bloober Team has released patches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the PS5 Pro version since struggling with Sony’s PSSR upscaling, resulting in poor image quality, image stability issues, and jittering and pixelation on reflections and surfaces.

Bloober revealed it was working on a patch as early as November last year but has since been quiet on the patch until now, with the team eager to push it out as soon as possible to bring it in line with the PC and standard PlayStation 5 versions. We don’t have an exact release date for the patch, but Bloober told Eurogamer it will “share more details as soon as we have them.”

Why PS5 Pro Optimization Matters

Silent Hill 2 is a horror game, and when issues such as unstable frame rates, glitching graphics, and poor image quality arise, it can spoil the horror experience.

Next-gen console owners expect cutting-edge technology and the highest quality performance for the price they pay, with minimum requirements being improved lighting, graphics, and fog effects, consistent 60 FPS, and faster load times.

What’s Next For Silent Hill

While Bloober Team continues to work on the PS5 Pro performance patch for Silent Hill 2, fans can look forward to Return to Silent Hill, which will air in US cinemas in late 2025. There’s also Silent Hill f, which plans to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025, and Silent Hill: Townfall, a spin-off planning to launch a new anthology.
