Fake Battlefield 6 playtest invites are spreading on Reddit, aiming to steal Steam accounts. Here’s what players need to know.

Battlefield 6 is undoubtedly one of the most-awaited games this year. The hype even got bigger after the beta testing that when EA opened the Battlefield Labs again, countless people tried to signup.

But like with anything in this world, popularity attracts not just fans but also those looking to take advantage of the situation. And no we are not talking about harmless leaks but scammers.

 

Battlefield 6 Phishing Links Surfaces On Reddit

Fans had an explosive week last week with the teases and leaks for BF6 Battle Royale mode. So much so that crooks thought it would be a good time to do their dirty deeds again.

According to multiple Battlefield fans, a fake playtest invite for the Battle Royale mode is circulating on Reddit. A PSA has now been issued on the official Battlefield subreddit warning people not to click this fake playtest ad. Apparently, this phishing link looks to steal the user’s Steam account.

   

After some careful investigation by the community, the Join Playtest button actually has a fake domain looking like ea(dot)6-Battlefield(dot)com. Once a player clicks it, it redirects to store(dot)steampowered(dot)joined-playtest(dot)com which will then automatically steal their Steam account.

A similar incident happened back in July where a playtest invite was advertised on Instagram. Like it, it also targeted Steam accounts. If you’re one of the unlucky ones, message Steam support right away.

Apart from the highly advertised Battlefield Open Beta last month, all other testing is done with Battlefield Labs. So unless the playtest invite is through it, proceed with the highest caution. Because, well, it probably isn’t.
