Pokemon Champions arrives April 8 on Switch and Switch 2, featuring ranked battles, Mega Evolutions, and Pokemon HOME support.
The Pokemon Company has officially confirmed the release date for their highly anticipated competitive title, Pokemon Champions. This free-to-play battle-focused game is launching on Nintendo consoles in just two weeks from now. More than that, pricing for Battle Pass and Starter Pack are now known but with regional pricing in effect, it could be different for other regions.
Pokemon Champions Launches on April 8
The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have officially confirmed that Pokemon Champions will launch on April 8, 2026. The game will be available on both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2.
As expected with free-to-play titles, attention quickly shifted to how monetization will work. Players have been especially curious (even anxious) about microtransactions and battle pass pricing. But thanks to Serebii.net, there’s already a rough idea of what to expect.
First reported by Insider Gaming, the Japanese listings suggest that the seasonal battle pass will cost around 1,400 yen, which comes out to roughly $9. A starter pack is also revealed, priced at about 980 yen or $6, bundling useful items like Training Tickets, Teammate Tickets, expanded box space, and even music tracks from Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee.
There’s also a membership option, costing about 700 yen monthly (around $4) or 7,000 yen yearly (roughly $44). On top of that, a Pokemon Champions + Starter Pack bundle is reportedly set to launch alongside the game on April 8. While regional pricing will likely vary, these early figures at least give players a ballpark idea of what they might be spending.
The release date announcement came with a brand-new trailer that offered a deeper look at gameplay. It confirmed support for Pokemon HOME, which should make transferring and managing your collection much easier. Also some Mega-Evolved Pokemon have been revealed including Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr.
On the gameplay side, three main modes have been confirmed which are Ranked Battles, Casual Battles, and Private Battles.
April 8 isn’t far off, and with everything revealed so far, the Pokemon competitive scene is about to get a massive upgrade.
