As expected, Playstation Plus monthly games for October were revealed during last night’s State of Play stream. On top of that, some titles for both Extra Game Catalog and Premium Classic Catalog for next month were also announced.
PlayStation Plus Essential Free Games for October
October’s lineup brings some excellent titles to PlayStation Plus. The Essential games, available across all tiers starting October 7th, feature three standout picks.
The 3-game lineup is headlined by Alan Wake 2. This highly-acclaimed 2023 survival horror game continues the brilliance of the first game. Smart, bloody, tense, and with a good amount of humor in all the right places. If you have never gotten a chance to play it, don’t miss out. And it’s incredible on Playstation 5!
Together with it are Cocoon and Goat Simulator 3. When you finish Alan Wake 2, do not sleep on Cocoon. You won’t regret it. It’s a puzzle adventure game that takes you through worlds within worlds. This mind-bending cosmic journey was also released in 2023 to high acclaim.
Rounding out the lineup is Goat Simulator 3. Silly, chaotic, and endlessly entertaining, it’s a perfect pick for when you just want to laugh and cause a little mayhem.

Beyond the monthly Essential titles, State of Play confirmed that The Last of Us Part II Remastered will join the PS Plus Extra Game Catalog on September 26th, just in time for The Last of Us Day.
PS Plus Premium also has some early confirmation of games to join the Classic Catalog:
- Tekken 3
- Soulcalibur 3
- Tomb Raider Anniversary
For the Classic Catalog, it’s probably just these three, while for Extra Game Catalog additions, more will be announced during its usual reveal schedule.
