A Massive Controller Shipment Hits US Shores

Valve is quietly filling up its warehouses. Industry insider Brad Lynch spotted shipping manifests showing a massive import from Cheng Uei Precision Ind. Co Ltd out of Hong Kong.

The cargo landed in the US on April 4, packing 40 boxes and weighing an enormous 12,970 kg. While the exact unit count remains hidden on the public record, a 13-ton shipment proves the company is gearing up for a major retail push.


Will the Steam Controller Launch Before the Console?

The new Steam Controller is highly likely to launch before the Steam Machine. While the “Gabe Cube” and VR headset are delayed by the ongoing DRAM pricing crisis, the controller doesn’t require massive memory banks, freeing Valve to release it as a standalone product right now.

Valve originally planned to launch the entire hardware trio simultaneously in Q1 2026. Unfortunately, crippling hardware shortages wrecked that timeline.

Releasing the gamepad early on Steam will keep momentum alive while waiting for memory prices to stabilize. It also gets the new hardware into players’ hands without holding it hostage to a console delay.
