GGMods launches Jan 7, 2026, offering salaries, grants, and transparent payouts to modders, plus a Discord giveaway with a Steam Deck OLED.

PC gaming is taking over the spotlight and right alongside it comes the explosive growth of the modding community. Mods, whether officially supported by developers or fully fan-made, have always been a core part of what makes PC gaming special.

Modding is the act of customizing or expanding a game using community-made content. It can mean anything from adding new weapons and characters to improving visuals, fixing bugs, or even creating entirely new quests and gameplay systems.

Over the years, platforms like Nexus Mods and mod.io have become major homes for modders to share their work. Even Steam created the Workshop and GOG with its One-Click Mod system as built-in mod hubs for supported games, proving how important mods are to the community.

Still, the reality has been the same for most creators. Modding is usually done for passion, not profit. People spend countless hours learning tools, building assets, testing updates, and supporting players, often investing their own money along the way, all without a reliable way to earn anything back. And that is where GGMods is coming in to change.

GGMods: Financial Salary and Grants for Modders

GGMods is launching as a creator-first modding platform built around direct financial support for modders. The platform says it will select top-tier talent for salaried contracts, giving elite creators resources to build flagship mods while also mentoring newer modders.

Instead of unclear reward pools, GGMods is introducing fixed-rate payouts and transparent revenue rules, plus development and completion grants that are meant to help creators finish projects and get paid fairly for the attention they generate.

GGMods is also positioning itself differently from older hubs by promising predictable payouts, stronger IP protection through anti-theft systems and official creator badges, modern upload tools with game-specific templates, and a more active staff presence through Discord.

It also plans to push mainstream visibility for featured creators through coverage and partnerships with some gaming news outlets, while encouraging early adopters with founding perks and direct communication channels with the team. So in theory, perfect. In reality, time will tell.

It’s hard not to see that GGMods is a major step forward. Modding has always been one of the most creative, community-driven parts of PC gaming, yet the people building that value have rarely been rewarded in a structured way. Salaries, grants, and transparent payouts could finally make it possible for talented modders to turn their passion into something sustainable without relying on luck, donations, or burnout.

But it also raises a question that could split the community. Does monetization change the soul of modding? If mods become a career path, will that attract more talent and lead to higher quality creations or will it shift things toward trends, competition, and profit-driven content that replaces the original spirit of experimentation and love for the craft?

Launch Date, Discord Community, and a Giveaway to Kick Things Off

GGMods is officially set to launch on January 7, 2026, but it’s already building momentum by opening its community Discord early so modders can connect, ask questions, and help shape the platform from the start.

And because the platform depends entirely on creators (no modders means no mods, and no mods means no site!), GGMods is celebrating this milestone with a launch giveaway just for joining the Discord.

The prize pool includes a Steam Deck OLED for the grand prize winner, a Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD (2TB) for the runner-up, plus 30 Discord Nitro subscriptions and Steam game keys as community prizes.

The giveaway will be drawn live in the Discord on launch day which means anyone joining before January 7 has a chance to win.
