SAUDI-BACKED INVESTMENT GROUP BUY ESPORTS COMPANY
ESL Gaming was once the largest esports organizer globally, with tournaments including the ESL Pro Tour, Intel Extreme Masters, and Dreamhack.
Savvy Gaming Group’s acquisition of ESL for a reported $1.05 billion sees the company merge with FACEIT, another esports platform the group has also bought.
The newly formed ESL FACEIT Group will see the companies combine their knowledge and expertise of organizing and running large esports tournaments for CS: GO, Rainbow Six: Siege, and StarCraft II.
The plan is to continue to build a gaming platform for everyone, with accessibility the critical focus.
Co-CEO Craig Levine said in a statement, “Our merger with FaceIt, along with the backing of SGG, will give us more know-how, capabilities, and resources than ever before to deliver on this vision.”
The decision to purchase the two groups as the world is beginning to recover from COVID-19 can not be ignored.
ESL FACEIT Group is expected to invest heavily in gaming and esports, which will only mean larger events, improved competition in tournaments, and more of the games you love.
