Horizon Clone ‘Light of Motiram’ Removed From Steam and Epic Games Store As Lawsuit Ends

Sony and Tencent settle their Light of Motiram dispute, with the game now delisted from Steam and the Epic Games Store.

 

Sony and Tencent high-profile copyright lawsuit has come to an end. The scheduled 2026 hearing is no longer moving forward as both parties have recently reached a confidential agreement which will not be made public, apart from one detail. Tencent’s Light of Motiram is no longer listed on Steam and Epic Games Store.

 

Light of Motiram Delisted from Steam and Epic Games Store

The battle of the giants will no longer see 2026 as Sony and Tencent reached an agreement, with the former appearing to have won. According to a report by The Verge, a representative from Tencent told the publication that a confidential agreement was signed, with no further action planned and no additional details expected to be shared.

While the report mentioned that neither Tencent nor Sony will further comment on the matter, the fact that Light of Motiram is no longer listed on both Steam and Epic Games Store shows which was favored. The game’s website is still live with both links to its listings but it now redirects back to the homepage.

The delisting follows a series of quiet moves including changes to the game’s Steam page assets and a reported step back from promotion earlier this month which are clear signs that the dispute was heading in one direction.

   

Light of Motiram was announced last year and from the get-go, everyone noticed how strikingly similar it is to the Horizon game series. Apparently, Tencent started developing Light of Motiram in 2023 and approached Sony at GDC 2024 for a license to make its own Horizon game.

However, Sony declined but Tencent allegedly continued development anyway. According to a report by IGN, Sony says it later tried to resolve the dispute informally, only for Tencent to again push for a Horizon license.

Well, after all that trouble and a lawsuit, Tencent received its final hard no for Light of Motiram. This also goes to show that going against Sony is rarely a winning strategy.
