HITMAN World of Assassination (WoA) is the latest installment in the famous Hitman series by IO Interactive. The stealth-action game series starring Agent 47 first debuted in 2000 with Codename 47. WoA is a rebrand of Hitman 3 from 2021, the eighth game in the series, and it also brings the previous 2 installments together as a single trilogy.
This third chapter is particularly loved by fans of the series, thanks to the freedom of choice in approaching targets, as well as its often darkly comedic side. The trilogy is considered among the most successful in the Hitman franchise, with the series reaching a total of over 50 million players. HITMAN World of Assassination – Anniversary Edition: The Leaked Launch Date
With 2025 marking the 25th Anniversary of the Hitman series, the team at IO Interactive had mentioned at the beginning of June that some new stuff was on the way. News that was partly revealed during the IO Interactive Showcase on 7 June 2025. The team’s first major event and showcase confirmed an Anniversary Edition of WoA for October.
An edition that seems to have been confirmed by the well-known leaker billbil-kun. He appears to confirm the date as 17 October 2025, while sharing some details. He confirmed a Physical Edition that will require an internet connection, and will include the 4 DLCs from the Celebrity Bundle and the Box Chess Master 3D Shadowbox, as well as a special 25th Anniversary Lenticular Card.

This is interesting news, pointing to a new re-release with price, platforms, and content still to be confirmed. It would add to the list of new things coming from the world of Hitman in 2025. Like the board game in collaboration with MOOD. And the WoA Signature Edition among the launch lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Additionally, World of Assassination is launching on 27 August 2025 for Apple iOS devices. Just like on console and PC, it will offer the Free Starter Pack with additional Contracts and Missions available as purchasable DLCs. The latest news includes the conclusion of the Collab with 007 First Light against Le Chiffre from Casino Royale. And the confirmation of the Hitman: Contracts soundtrack being featured at the BAFTA concert on 31 January 2026.

In Conclusion
This is certainly very interesting news for the WoA Hitman series. With a physical version that’s mostly celebratory and, according to leaks, available on 17 October. Although many fans would have preferred news about a potential new installment or a remaster of some of the classics.
