Highguard is Shutting Down on March 12, Devs to Release One Final Update
Highguard is shutting down its servers on March 12, 2026 with Wildlight Entertainment releasing one more update for fans.
Wildlight Entertainment announced that their recently launched PvP raid shooter, Highguard, is permanently shutting down this month. While that’s already next week, the team will still release one final update that will bring new in-game content and progression.

It’s not at all a surprise but it does feel sad knowing that Highguard is shutting down because it’s really not a bad game. Definitely not as bad as the reception it got. Sure it had issues when it launched but those things build over time which unfortunately it wont get. In the end, these things happen. Just ask Concord.
From the moment it was announced in Gamescom 2025 to its release, it was a whirlwind for the team and the community, to say the least. And then in the one month it was out, there were signs already that it was on life support. The website went dark, layoffs, and the 5v5 pivot all pointed to what we have today. Wildlight Entertainment is officially shutting down the game on March 12, 2026.
In a statement released on their X account and Steam, the team shared that they were not able to build a sustainable player base to support the game long term. They also thanked players who believed in what they were building.
Although the end is in sight, the team isn’t going down quietly. One final update will be released either tonight or tomorrow morning which will include a new Warden, a new weapon, account level progression, and skill trees. They did have that roadmap so if they’ve already done the work, it just makes sense to release that to the public.

The live service arena is a really tough one. Concord. King of Meat. Highguard. And there’s another one releasing tomorrow which, well, let’s hope for the best.
