Antoniades was asked whether the game has a potential for a franchise with multiple entries or if a big name offers to create a new installment of the game, would it be a possibility? He answered with “never say never.”
Although the Hellblade team is small, Ninja Theory is around 100 people and we are doing a mix of games including working with publishers. A healthy mix of established IP and new IP is where we want to be. Could Hellblade turn into a franchise? Never say never. I hope it’s a success so that we can at least have that choice to make.
The game has a very interesting theme, and it circles around psychosis. You will get to play as Senua, a Celtic Warrior who has psychosis. She is set to go on a journey to search for her dead lover’s soul. Actually, upon the game’s release, it will come with a 25-minute long video documentary entitled Hellblade: Senua’s Psychosis. To make the game’s experience real, Ninja Theory collaborated with neuroscientists as well as people with psychosis.
