Today, on July 10, 2025, Ground of Aces launches on Steam, offering an exciting mix of WWII strategy and base-building. Developed by Blindflug Studios, this new indie game delivers a historic air force atmosphere and deep management gameplay in a unique comic-book style.

Ground of Aces Release Date and Platforms

Ground of Aces launches today, July 10, 2025, at 6 PM CEST in Early Access on Steam. A console version has not yet been announced, though it could follow after Early Access. For now, there is only one version that includes all current gameplay and free updates. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.

Ground of Aces Gameplay Features and Mechanics

In Ground of Aces, you build your own military base and airfield. You can freely place tents, hangars, workshops, and more, arranging everything as efficiently as possible. You’ll also need fields to produce enough food for your troops, as well as plenty of ammunition, fuel, and spare parts. You must also construct roads, storage facilities, and radio towers—basically everything your base needs.

Each member of your crew has needs like sleep, hunger, and morale. You must ensure these stay high so your soldiers remain combat-ready. You can also train them and assign specializations such as mechanic, radio operator, or pilot.

You’ll then send your soldiers on missions including recon flights, bombings, and rescue operations. Whether these succeed depends on how skilled your crew is. Successful missions unlock rewards and boost troop morale. The game features many well-known American aircraft like the Spitfire, Hurricane, and others.

Of course, your base won’t always be safe. Enemies can attack and damage your facilities. If you can’t defend them, you’ll face major repairs. But with anti-aircraft guns (currently in development) and your own planes, you can also repel attackers.

Developer and Background

The game was developed by Blindflug Studios AG in Zurich, known for Airheart and Cloud Chasers. In fall 2023, a Kickstarter campaign attracted 2,044 backers, raising a total of €109,950.

Early Access Roadmap and Future Plans

As mentioned, the game is launching in Early Access. This phase will last at least 12 months, with the goal of releasing a full version by the end of 2026. During this time, the developers plan many content expansions, including new buildings, bicycles on the airfield, dogs, control towers, additional aircraft with skins, and much more.
