Key Takeaways: The Quick Answer
- Archetype Entertainment just released the first raw gameplay footage for Exodus, heavily channeling its classic sci-fi RPG roots.
- The clips showcase cover-based squad combat, space grappling hooks, and eerie ancient shrines.
- A massive extended gameplay showcase is locked in for this summer ahead of the Early 2027 launch on PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Heavy Mass Effect Vibes from Ex-BioWare Devs
The first real look at Exodus gameplay is officially here. It screams classic space opera in the best way possible.
This isn’t a huge shock given the pedigree behind the project. Archetype Entertainment was founded by former BioWare heavyweights, including original Mass Effect writer Drew Karpyshyn.
Fast forward to the year 42,000. Humans bailed on a dying Earth and set up shop in a star cluster 16,000 light-years away.
Thanks to relativistic physics, the earliest arrivals evolved into unrecognizable, heavily modified beings called “Celestials.” You play as Jun Aslan, a human from a family of recent arrivals thrust into a fight for survival.
Jun Aslan didn’t ask for this.

Breaking Down the Gameplay Footage
Yesterday’s community update gave us three distinct clips of raw, work-in-progress gameplay. The first segment drops Jun and companions Tom and Elise into a live firefight.
It’s classic cover-based shooting in the port city of Lyonesse. The health bars and weapon-selection wheels feel right at home for anyone who spent hours saving the galaxy in the late 2000s.
Then we get to the traversal. Jun uses a space grappling hook—officially named the “railclaw“—to scale the exterior of an orbital tower.
The tower connects Lyonesse to the Cherag Harbor asteroid. When you pan the camera up, the illuminated city sits beautifully under a green aurora.
You asked for more gameplay. Here's a first look. Stay tuned to this frequency for more snippets ahead of our Extended Gameplay reveal this summer. pic.twitter.com/0rrMdbbAGJ

Celestial Shrines and The Road to 2027
The final clip shifts the tone completely. Jun approaches an ancient, alien-looking Celestial shrine on the planet Khonsu. It teases the deep mysticism at the core of Exodus. It’s not just about dumping mags into hovering robots—there is an unknowable cosmic force at play here.
According to the developers, players will face heavy moral choices. You’ll juggle conflicting agendas that literally echo across generations due to time dilation.
Expect a massive, uninterrupted gameplay showcase this summer. Until then, Archetype Entertainment plans to drip-feed more short clips to hold us over.
Exodus hits PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in early 2027. We don’t have an official price tag yet, but expect the standard $69.99 premium retail price when pre-orders fully go live.
