SpeedRunners 2 King of Speed open playtest is now live! Here’s everything you can expect including modes, runners, and maps

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is slated for release later this year. While an official launch date has yet to be announced, fans can get a taste of the game right now with the live open playtest. Here’s everything there is to know about the playtest version, including a chance to win a copy of Speedrunner 2 when it launches.

SpeedRunners 2 King of Speed Open Playtest Now Available

Fair Play Labs and tinyBuild have opened the gates to the first public playtest for Speedrunner 2 King of Speed. It was a long wait since the first game so they made sure this version, although not the final one still, is absolutely packed with content.

The open playtest features a mix of classic content from SpeedRunners along with exciting new additions. The classic modes include Ranked, Quick Match, Local Versus, Custom Lobby, and Practice mode which is basically the tutorial for newbies and advanced players. Joining them for the first time in the game is the Tournament Mode which is the game’s version of battle royale with 64 contenders. If that’s too much for you, there’s also the new 8-Player Mode.

As for the runners, since this is still a playtest, not all characters from the first game are available. For now, you can choose from the following:

• SpeedRunner
• Cosmonaut Comrade
• Hothead
• Moonraker
• Unic
• Maneki Neko

Finally, the maps. Each one will have an alternative layout for learning. Currently, Metro, Casino, and SS Royale maps are in play, plus a new one called Museum.
