February is almost over, and so is the Steam Next Fest. It only runs until March 2nd. At the Steam Next Fest, you can test many new games as demos that haven’t even been released yet, giving you a sneak peek. Player feedback also helps developers improve their games, making it a clear win-win.

Since the festival won’t last much longer, I’ll show you the top 3 Steam Next Fest demos you should definitely try out before March 2nd. I’ve put together a colorful mix, so there should definitely be something for you. Let’s dive right in.
#1: Windrose: Open World PvE Pirate Game
Windrose is an open-world survival PvE action-adventure with a pirate setting. The demo offers about 4-6 hours of gameplay. You start stranded or as a captain, and there’s a mix of survival, crafting, base building, and, of course, naval battles against AI. The demo includes the first three islands of an archipelago, some early quests, resource gathering, and provides an introduction to the ship mechanics.
You explore procedurally generated islands and fight enemies on land and at sea. There are also boss fights reminiscent of Souls-lites. Additionally, there is a crafting system for weapons and base structures, as well as a co-op mode, which is already available in the demo. Despite the demo’s limitations, the game already shows dynamic progression, where you upgrade your ship and manage resources. Thanks to the demo and trailers, the game has already garnered over 1 million wishlist entries on Steam.
#2: Wanderburg: Minimalist Medieval Roguelike
The second game you should test is Wanderburg. It’s a game that might remind some of the movie Mortal Engines. In this game, you control a castle on wheels, and later maybe even with legs. There are other rolling castles or houses in the world that become stronger as your run progresses, just as you do by devouring more and more. You must suck up everything with your castle—fields, units, sheep, and more—which earns you money. With the money, you unlock new upgrades, just like in other survivor-like games, making you even stronger.
Upgrades include new weapons that automatically shoot at enemies, and there are even powerful active abilities. Like any roguelike, the game has high replay value, and you can feel the progression even in the demo. After each run, you receive your earned money and can use it to buy upgrades to start your next run. The mix of roguelike progression, strategic expansion, and surprising encounters makes for captivating sessions. The first 4 bosses and the first area are available in the demo, bringing the playtime to about 2 hours.
#3: RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike – Arcade Roguelike Mix
Arcade or gambling roguelikes have been gaining popularity since Balatro, which is why RACCOIN performs well. This game isn’t about cards, but a coin pusher machine with roguelike deckbuilding elements. The demo offers a quick start and addictive, physics-based gameplay where you push coins on the board to unlock rewards, combos, and items. Every run offers unpredictable combinations; for example, there are special coins that react in surprising ways, like nuclear explosion coins, multipliers, cat, and raccoon coins. Besides coins, there are more than 120 items you collect, combine, and use strategically between attempts to optimize your next run.
Despite its simple look and premise, the game has an astonishing depth of strategic possibilities. You need to plan the use of your items well and see when the risk is worth it to get as many coins as possible. Players particularly appreciate the flow between chance and control, as every decision can have a huge impact. The reviews for the demos are mostly positive, and the game is definitely worth checking out for free.
