PlayStation recently released the ranking of the most downloaded games of the first month of 2024. The ranking, divided into 5 categories and by two regions, also shows a certain difference between the US/Canada region and the EU region.
The list certainly includes new titles that have managed to reach the top 10, although the top positions are occupied by some of the most popular titles of recent years with a very solid online community. Therefore, we have decided to narrow down the categories to 10 games and also help you find the best prices for these!
Among the novelties in both regions, we have Tekken 8, which ranks a solid 4th in America and Canada, and a good 5th in Europe. GTA V remains firm in the rankings, enjoying Ray Tracing support with reflections on PS5. Modern Warfare III also remains strong as the most casual shooter title, ranking first and third in the two regions. As for sports titles, we have EA Sports FC24 in second place in Europe, while Madden NFL 24 (third) and NBA 2K24 (fifth) are for US/Canada. For the rest, the rankings are very similar, although in Europe Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is more appreciated with a ninth place, unlike 17th place in America.
In the top 10 for PS4, we have some titles in common with PS5, but in the USA, Minecraft takes first place and second place in EU. Modern Warfare III is also played in both regions, ranking third in US/Canada but tenth in EU. We also have some slightly older titles in the rankings, such as Batman: Arkham Knight in US/Canada and A Way Out in EU, both ranking fifth. Sports titles are absent from the top 10 in EU, where even in America, EA Sports FC 24 and NBA 2K24 rank ninth and tenth.
For games on the powerful PSVR 2, Beat Saber reigns supreme in both regions, taking the first place. Among US VR also ranks third and second. However, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted 2 is more popular in America, ranking second, while it is only ninth in Europe. For the rest, the games swap one or two places between the regions. In both regions, Arizona Sunshine 2 ranks tenth, while as unique titles, we have Kayak VR: Mirage in eighth place in EU and Ultrawings 2 in ninth in US/Canada.
We have ASTRO BOT Rescue Mission, a “sequel” to Playroom VR, a launch title for PS VR, still ranking first in US/CA and second in EU. EU prefers Job Simulator in first place, where it ranks fifth in the other region. Skyrim VR is also beloved in America, ranking second, and a good 7th in Europe. Beat Saber also appears here, ranking fourth in US/Canada and third in EU.
The ranking of the most downloaded Free to Play games of January 2024 offers the same 9 games with different positions. In US/Canada, the top 5 in order are Roblox, Fortnite, The Finals, COD Warzone, and Apex Legends, while in EU they swap with Fortnite, Roblox, COD Warzone, The Finals, and Rocket League, with Apex Legends dropping to ninth place. The tenth place is occupied by LEGO Fortnite in America and eFootball 2024 in Europe. Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact are also missing from the top 10 most downloaded games, despite both being in the rankings of the most played titles on PlayStation, indicating a slightly quieter January for Hoyoverse, especially after the recent criticisms regarding the Lunar Year Awards.
