Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has just received its fifth free update and that means that a brand-new playable character has entered the race. But this latest drop is more than just adding another driver. Alongside the new racer and vehicle, players can jump into a limited-time race event and enjoy fresh themed tracks added to the game’s ever-growing soundtrack.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Latest Driver: AiAi
Since launching in September last year, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has maintained impressive momentum. Even before release, SEGA made it clear the game wouldn’t be a one-and-done experience. In the lead-up to launch (as if the launch itself wasn’t exciting enough), SEGA announced that the game would receive a full year of post-launch content, both free and paid.
The game has already received four free updates with the latest being NiGHTS. Now, SEGA is dropping a new one, bringing AiAi from the Super Monkey Ball series into the lineup. And he didn’t come along. Joining him is his signature Banana Cruiser, along with special emotes and sounds that stay true to his Super Monkey Ball roots.
The update also expands the in-game Jukebox with four Super Monkey Ball themed tracks: Race, Menu Theme, Jingle from Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, and Banana Farm.
To top it all off, a special in-game Super Monkey Ball Festival kicks off today, February 12, and runs through February 15. During this limited-time event, players can compete in themed races and high-speed matches designed to celebrate AiAi’s arrival.
With free updates expected to drop every month, there’s already plenty to look forward to. Next in line are Tangle and Whisper, two more fan-favorite characters that continue to show SEGA is carefully ticking off crowd-pleasing additions. The game is sold and with these post-launch updates, no wonder Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is so highly-rated.
