Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Hits 1M Sales, But SEGA Wants More
SEGA has announced that its family-friendly kart racing game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, has sold over 1 million copies since its highly praised release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC on September 25, 2025.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has officially shifted into high gear, crossing the one million sales milestone. But while fans are cheering for what many call the most mechanical kart racer in a decade, SEGA’s suits are staring at a different set of numbers.
Despite an “Overwhelmingly Positive” reception on Steam and an 82+ Metacritic score, the title has technically underperformed internal projections for its launch window.
In a Results Presentation last November, which was spotted via ResetEra, SEGA is hoping for more in the coming months from the racing game as it looks to achieve “long-term sales through continued provision of additional downloadable content and IP collaborations.”
