The Lord of the Rings: Gollum – Preload and Making of now available

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released in just a few days, but you can already download the game and watch the making-of video.

On May 18th, the publishers Nacon released a 4-minute making-of video for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum on their YouTube channel, which you can also watch above if you’re interested.

In the video, the developers talk about how they created Gollum in their game and how they integrated his various and complex traits into the game.

In the making-of video, the developers also discuss the appearance of Gollum, which differs from the Gollum in the movies. They kept Gollum’s physique very similar to the one in the movies but made changes to his face to make it their own creation.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on May 25th, 2023, but you can already download the game starting from May 23rd to be able to play it directly at release without downloading.

It is still possible that an update will be released at the time of release to fix some minor errors. So don’t be surprised if a small download is required at release.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and is planned to be released for Nintendo Switch later, but there is no exact date for that yet.

For PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, we already know the size of the pre-download for the game. It will be 30.5 GB on PlayStation 4 and 18.7 GB on PlayStation 5.

Thanks to the new Kraken compression technology, the game is significantly smaller on PlayStation 5 compared to the older PlayStation 4.

Story

In Lord of the Rings: Gollum, you will get to know Gollum from a completely different perspective than you know him from movies or books.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum takes place in the same world as the TV series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” by Amazon Studios.

You take control of the eponymous character, Gollum, who was once the hobbit Smeagol and became the creature Gollum through the Ring of Power.

In the game by Daedalic Entertainment, you will play as Gollum, who is a rather weak character. Therefore, you must skulk in the shadows to survive in the world.

Throughout the game, you will often have the opportunity to choose between Gollum’s two sides: the evil side that only loves the Ring or whether you want the old hobbit Smeagol, who still resides within Gollum, to prevail.
