As detailed by VGC, the patent describes how, instead of closing the game, you might soon summon an AI assistant, or “Ghost Player,” that learns exactly how you play.

Sony AI Gaming Ghost: The End of Getting Stuck?
The tech uses an AI assistance engine trained on thousands of hours of gameplay footage from the community. It creates a “Ghost” character that appears in your live session to demonstrate exactly how to bypass a specific hurdle.
Whether you’re stuck on a complex puzzle in Uncharted or a frame-perfect boss in Elden Ring, the AI analyzes your current game state and provides a custom solution.
PlayStation AI vs Player Autonomy
The patent describes two primary modes: Guide Mode and Complete Mode.
In Guide Mode, the ghost acts as a coach, performing the necessary actions while you watch, then handing back the controller. Complete Mode takes it a step further, allowing the AI to take full control and clear the segment entirely for you.
This raises a massive question. Does this kill the satisfaction of winning? Overcoming a challenge is a core part of the “soul” of gaming.
