- Pocketpair filed new trademarks for “Palworld Online” in the United States and South Korea in late April 2026.
- The branding suggests a potential shift toward a persistent live-service multiplayer model similar to Grand Theft Auto Online.
- This legal move aligns with the upcoming Palworld version 1.0 launch and the ongoing mobile adaptation by KRAFTON.
Pocketpair Secures “Palworld Online” Branding
Despite the ongoing legal friction with The Pokémon Company, Pocketpair is actively preparing for the future of its flagship survival game Palworld.
Recent intellectual property filings reveal the studio is actively locking down new terminology and branding assets. According to South Korean gaming outlet Inven, the developer filed a trademark for “Palworld Online” in South Korea on April 24, 2026.
This initial move was followed by a matching filing in the United States on April 27. The applications explicitly include a dedicated logo, signaling a distinct marketing push.

Will Palworld Online Be a Separate Game?
No official announcement confirms whether “Palworld Online” is a standalone release or a rebranding of current multiplayer modes.
Expectations suggest it could function similarly to Grand Theft Auto Online, serving as a dedicated multiplayer ecosystem introduced alongside the game’s eventual 1.0 update.
Currently, the survival title features an established multiplayer infrastructure across PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5. Players can easily host four-player cooperative sessions locally or populate dedicated servers supporting up to 32 players.
Applying the “Online” subtitle might simply formalize this existing multiplayer framework into a more structured, persistent live-service model.

Version 1.0 and Franchise Expansion Plans
The precise timing of these trademark filings perfectly aligns with Pocketpair’s broader production roadmap.
The complete 1.0 version of the core game is currently slated for release later in 2026. The new trademark provides the necessary legal foundation for a major promotional cycle.
Beyond the console and PC versions, the studio is rapidly expanding its intellectual property footprint through external co-development partnerships.
KRAFTON and PUBG Studios are actively engineering the official Palworld Mobile adaptation, proving the development team remains entirely focused on expanding the franchise.
