Parasite Mutant Announced: A Sci-Fi Horror RPG Channeling Parasite Eve

Parasite Mutant (PM) is the new Horror RPG game in a survival style, currently in development by the IceSitruuna team. A Chinese indie development team that debuted in 2019 with the metroidvania roguelite Tower Hunter: Erza’s Trial. This was followed by Erza’s second adventure in Frontier Hunter in July 2024.
This time with PM, they’re offering a true horror adventure in an RPG style. Strongly inspired by ’90s turn-based experiences. In a dystopian future, we’ll follow the agent with psionic powers, Nova, as she investigates a mysterious island filled with horrors. Parasite Mutant: The Spiritual Successor to Parasite Eve Unveiled
With many fans of the Parasite Eve series waiting for a revival of the series, surprisingly we have the announcement of Parasite Mutant. A new title that doesn’t come from Square Enix, but rather from the Chinese indie team IceSitruuna. They’re proposing a genuine survival horror RPG experience heavily inspired by the famous series centered around Aya Brea.
The announcement came on 29 September 2025, unveiling the team’s new ambitious project. Taking us to a distant future, where we will follow Psionic agent Nova. Sent on a secret mission to explore a mysterious island. Soon discovering the horrors of a conspiracy that is somehow linked to her past.
Parasite Mutant: What We Know So Far
PM presents itself as a true spiritual successor to Parasite Eve. But it adopts an anime style and pays homage to the turn-based RPG experiences of the ’90s and early 2000s. It also adopts Parasite Eve’s gameplay based on the Active Time Bar, but with an interesting twist. Offering:
- Survival Horror Adventure: With an exploratory RPG experience in Survival Horror style. Following agent Nova on a mission full of secrets and horrors awaiting her.
- Combat System: Adopting the Active Time Chains System. Which combines hybrid turn-based and real-time gameplay, with a 3-chain system. Paying attention to timing and deciding the best moment to attack.
- Experience and Style: All accompanied by a semi-realistic anime style. That blends with the narrative style of late ’90s titles. Complete with CRT filters for a modern-retro experience.
All this is accompanied by a Level Up System for equipment, with various modules to attach and Plus Points to distribute. Not to forget the New Game+ which offers new locations to explore and challenges. And the customization of Nova’s appearance including clothes, accessories, colors, and hairstyles.

So, if Square Enix doesn’t seem currently interested in bringing back the Parasite Eve series, it seems that at least the fans have something to look forward to. With the new experience from the small team at IceSitruuna bringing an adventure inspired by Aya Brea’s titles. But with a few twists and an anime-style experience.
